When when writing up my idea propsal for possible ranger roles, I got slightly side tracked (as evident by my long paragraphs), and got to thinking;
Should rangers have reduced HAM costs when fighting creatures?
It got my thinking about this for quite some time. If the ranger is truely the master hunter, and he/she knows lots ab00t killing creatures, then should he/she be more effective/efficient? Now to stop combat stackers suddenly smiting me with their 400 damage stun baton of doom, let me elaborate on my idea. This ham reduction would only take place with the currently active target (ie. the one you are attacking, not just selected) is a creature. Not a player. Not even an NPC. Strictly an animal.
Im also not talking about anything unbalacingly significant. Just take the edge of the special attacks. This isnt designed to make hunting easy. Perhaps it should only work when fighting without armour? I dont know, but Im sure there are a hundred rangers out there that do.
Some thoughts;
Would it even work?
Do you think it would be usefull?
Should it be an incremental reduction gained through a particular tree, with a massive increase at master?(like weapon speed is). Reasons why it wont work?
Reason why it would unbalance rangers in the PvE combat "arena"?
Reasons why it would make ranger more attractive to people?
Ideas to further expand the idea?
Any and all of the above?

I don't know if we have a practical argument for this...I mean if you try to aim, no matter what you are aiming at, its dependant upon your skill at aiming. Although I would love it
My only other thought is that it should actually be useful high on the ranger tree, so that we don'tbring inpeople just looking for a good PvE alt.

I don't see how we could use less HAM when beating on a beastie. I mean, shooting and hitting are shooting and hitting, regardless of Ranger skills.
I do see how - as master hunters - we should get a better chance to hit said creatures. Better than the meager stuff we get now, and apply it across the board also.
Finally, I would support a 1-1000 chance of killing a creature with one well placed shot/hit. This skill would come at Master. It would be dependent upon a number of factors - including but not limited to - Skill with weapon (if you are not master, no chance) and Level of creature (be real, no one one shots a GDK or Ancient Krayt). There is the traditional dice roll - and if 00 comes up on the 1000 sided die you one hit kill the creature.
Wishful thinking. But hey, never hurts to wish.
