well I was sellling some meat on the flurry trade boards and i saw a +9 TN clothing attachment going for 5.5 mil. Anyone know why TN seems to be in such demand? i can see it being usefull for people with harvesters, but 5.5 MILLION!
was there a memo i missed or somethin?

It's great for people who want TN, but don't want to take Scout. A Ranger won't buy that tape, obviously, but a non-Scout could easily find justification for that kind of price tag (which is peanuts on some servers). Speeding up off-raod travel is well worth it in every case I can think of.

Do tapes enhance skills you don't have?

That's a darn good question. Obviously, the active skill (unarmed damage, pistol speed, creature harvesting, etc.) needs the actual skills to work, but something passive most likely works without the skill (DISCLAIMER!!! I and just guesing). I know there is a TN food that works even if you don't have any Scout of CM skills, so I assume a SEA would work, too.

Good question, does it work if you don't have the skill?
Someone should take a tape, like +1, of something they don't have and see.
I volunteer, I have a +1 tape for something artisany. Will let ya know if that +1 pops into my skills column.
JB
I now have +1 to armor assembly listed under my skills. As I don't have any artisan, I guess I can't see if I can assemble armor.
Still a good question

it does pop up on your modifiers colum, but not your skills colums. For the same reason that someone can do the force-senstive quests and get +5 to Terrain Negotian and run faster, but can't take the medical line of FS and learn how to heal.
Terrain negotiation isn't a special-- it's a passive modifier to you speed while running uphill. Therefore any class can take the SEA it will apply to them.
Bonuses to acive modifiers (such as wound healing, surveying) require that you have the skill to use them. There are modifiers that give you bonuses to how many track a BH droid does, but they are useless without actually being a BH.

Phenix is right.. It's a passive modifier, so anyone can use it. The only other mods I can think of like this are melee and ranged defense.
As for the price, this would be very useful for people who PvP and aren't a combat medic or squad leader, and don't have scout in their template. 5.5 mil sounds like a lot though, considering most people PvP in cities. Then again, Theed does have those cliffs behind the SP.

Combat defences such as block and counterattack tapes and attachments work on players who don't have the ability naturally. Before i had the Rifleman block ability i would use my combat duster that i had put a +1 block attachment. It would work every once in awhile but granted it was only +1.
