Thread: Mask Scent Bug that has never been addressed
I know all you Master Rangers out there can confirm this for me ...
Normal Behavoir: While Mask Scent is "on", you shoot a creature and it is confused and doesn't know your position immediately. After about 10 seconds, it figures out where you are and heads your way. If you shoot at a creature without using Mask Scent, it immeditely heads toward you. This is *expected behavior*.
Bug: When there is a lair/group of "social" creatures and you shoot at one of them, the one you shoot exhibits the above-stated behavior but the rest of the "assisting" creatures make a beeline straight for you as if youhad a huge homing beacon strapped on your head, ignoring the Mask Scent skill.
While I'm at it, another bug I've found (not related to Mask Scent) is that if you are engaging a lair when creatures "come out", they teleport to you instantly.
Confirm/Deny? The devs need to get this fixed.
I have posted this issueon the "Bugs" list in scout forum.
How ever "Normal" isn't working right now, either. When I shoot a creature at range, It seems to "look" for me reguardless of maskscent being on or not. Even if the creture previously noticed me.
Some other oddities. When you trap a creature, they start coming towards you right after the trap takes hold.
Suffice to say, there are some interesting AI issues.

I also have found that the creatures are warping to me when the lair is attacked, or even when they spawn while one of their lair mates is under attack.
I do also find it funny that when I am masked, and throw a noise maker which depletes their mind pool and confuses them, that they apparently are 'un confused' enough to instantly know where I am... I guess confusion is a relative thing. ![]()
The fact that mask scent is broken has been discussed at length in several posts, but these issues are important as well.
I am eager to see what the 'big patch' has in store for fixing these issues, and the other mask scent issues as well.
