Thread: lets assume traps are actually..ummm...traps!!
Yeah, we've been batting this around for awhile now.
I love the idea of Trapping, ala Personal Resource Harvester.
/detectmigrationpattern and select an organic resource, set up Trap on a good "density" trail, bait the trap with meat (Good idea there!), then go on your way.
I think this would be a great new schematic and ability for Master Rangers... along with the Planet Specific Hunting Cabin Deed! ![]()

This is a great idea. Let's throw this in with the what's-wrong-with-traps section on the next top 5
i dont really want grenades, if i did i would be a commando. when i see Trapping i want to Trap. imagine a loner (eww bad word! one who wasnt forced into grouping) mountain man in the 1800s american west trapping beaver etc, set your trap and went about your way on your daily route to collect what you have harvested and reset the trap to collect more the next day. this is not a new idea but it came up in conversation with a doctor who needed Lok avian meat for res kits. something to truly set the Ranger apart from the scout skills which practically everyone hasout of necessity, a Ranger's traps allow him to collect lok avian meat , Dath insect meat, even fish...any resource in the world which is of animal origin and needed for crafting is fair game for the new trap....Trapping becomes actual trapping!
seems the code for the traps could piggyback harvester code for the most part with advanced trapping skills improving the number animals trapped just like an advanced harvesters improves mining operations....the new tracking skill acts as our 'survey' ability....
this idea keeps coming up in ranger conversations....again and again
*sigh*
