- I played a Mon Calamari during Beta, and I agree... They should have a swimming bonus.

Lizards should get a bonus for the Jungle too. Actually, they would need a boost on Tat in the daytime, but a huge penalty at night. Actually, maybe all this would be a needless complication?
Since all species are sentient, they are able to master their environments. Also, just because Trandos have scales and resemble doesn't mean they are cold-blooded. Even if they were, they would be able to overcome their physiological limitations before they could have the slightest chances of acquiring the simplest technology, to say nothing of spaceflight. Warm-blooded species need only food, water,and adequate clothing to protect themselves from the cold. I'm sure Trandoshans could use thermal suits of some type to enable them to be active in environments colder than their homeworld. So instead of making your Trandoshan put on an electric blanket suit at night, he just stays active.
Also, Mon Calamari anatomical shapeis no moreconducive to movement through water than that of humans,and in particular human females. Human malesare broader at the shoulders and smaller at the waist,and whereas females are opposite (more like Mon-Calamari body shape) and therefore more hydrodynamic. Combined with comparable size of hands and feet and lack of webbing on Mon Cal fingers and toes, and evident lack of extra muscle most beneficial for an uprightbiped's swimming ability (latisumus dorsi, flexor, and pectoral), there is no inherent reason for a Mon Calamari to be faster in the water than an experienced human swimmer.
However, Mon Calamari have abilities such as eyes thatfocus underwater,extremely large lung capacity and increased ability to process atmospheric gasses stored in the lungs and body, slick, hairless skin that benefits from submersion, and a thermal metabolism that can preserve body heat in cold water, which simply saps a human's body heat. Mon-Calamari craniums allow for automatic adjustement of sinus pressure regulation,whereas aswimming human must consciously regulate the rapid intracranial pressure difference that occurs while diving byclosingtheir mouth and nose andforcing gas into their sinuses and otological cavities.Mon-Calamari also have the innate ability to store pressurized atmospheric gasses in their body, and their bodies regulate the release of these gasses in relation to the external pressure on their bodies. The inability to do this leads to humans suffering or dying from what is termed decompression sickness. This Mon-Cal ability evolved from the ancient Mon-Cals taking advantage of the ubiquitous air pockets found in deep-water caves on their homeworld. On a sidenote, Mon-Calamari are also better able to survive in space environments due to their ability to survive rapidchanges in atmospheric pressureaccidents that would be fatal to a human.
So, Mon-Cals are much better at swimming underwater and staying in water for extended periods than a human will ever be, but they are not inherently faster surface swimmers.
