Thread: creature harvest skill?????
i just trained up 2 levels in it 0-0-2-0 specifically to try to make some change off of hunts. but i get the same exact amount of resources from creatures as i did when i did not have the +10 creature harvest.
what gives?
I only briefly read through the hundred or so pages in the stickys - but i didnt see anything specific about the creature harvest skill
"but i didnt see anything specific about the creature harvest skill "
- There might be a problem, but possibly itwill be fixed by tomorrow's patch.
- It has been noted in the list available via the link below, called State of the Profession.
I guess i will give you my situation. Im a BH dabbling in Ranger. I decided to climb up the tracking tree SPECIFICALLY because I thought it gave me an advantage in harvesting creatures. I mean that is what it says.... Creature harvesting +5 (This skill mod is used to determine the quantity of resources harvested from a creature)
As noted it was NOT working for me before yesterdays patch. can anyone confirm that it either IS or IS NOT working now?
As a BH my skill points are a rare commodity and it sounds like im wasting them in this skill tree.
any help?
am i thining about this righ? I mean my experiences bear this out as well. Does anyone know if the devs plan on fixing this? and what do you think about this skill? shouldnt Rangers be pulling in A LOT more units per corpse than scouts?
I think you goofed your calculations there. By being with your "mate" you called into the effect the grouping code which reduces your take by 40%.
A better calculation is to compare what you harvest with what your "mate" harvests as you harvest the same kind of animal but not the same animal, ungrouped. I believe each type of animal gives the same base amount (which we rangers used to be able to see) and then it gets bumped by your skill in Creature Harvesting. Compare what you get with what your "mate" gets and then figure out if your skill difference matters.
Ok, so the scout gets 8 hides off the beasties, I get 10. Thats not bad, a 25% increase. Now apply that to an 80 hide beast - he gets 80, I get 100. Pick on bigger things, you get bigger results.
Kill 100 durni and get 1000hide and 100xp. Kill one hambaba, get 50 hides and 989xp, you do the math.

- The question can then be whether the increase is worth the additional skill point expenditure.
- Is it?
What your seeing is the same thing I noticed , and one of the things that has longed irked me about the Ranger profession . Lots of points in Creature Harvesting does NOT equal many more resources harvested . If anything , with full creature harvesting on your character you will get maybe a 5% increase . Instead of 100 hides , you might get 105 or 108 .
Well whoopdie doo .
Insignificant to say the least , considering those skill points you wasted to get that tiny little increase can be spent on other skills to boost your offensive power and get your kill rate higher , such as eye shot or LLC single one , or anything pool specific for that matter . I dumped my Ranger points , improved my kill skills and now I'm killing things at least 2 times faster , many times 3 times faster or more . I'd rather harvest three full kills than in one minute than harvest one kill for a 5% increase in the same time . Only makes sense , which is the very reason why it remains broken heh .
Peace
