Ranger Archive

Since they know sooooo much about the outdoors and animals, why can't they know how to make an animal follow them or have special commands to help if they are nearby and your being attacked by an Aggro? Rangers are supposed to be masters at useing their enviornment right? I'm just wondering if there could be a possible way to all of a sudden call out to a non-aggro creature or something to come to your rescue since a Ranger may know the animal's languages. I think that would be cool. Hope the devs see this and give it some thought.

Oh yeah and I'm not saying that a ranger can call on a buncha animals to make an army. I'm just saying that just in case they need some help they could call on probly 1 or 2 animals at most to come to their aid if they are nearby for about 10 minutes or so and then the creature the ranger called will walk off and do its own thing. Thats all.

... But animals don't know Rangers.

An animals doesn't know Ranger Bob from Joe Bounty Hunter, so why would he bother to help him? All the critter knows is that Joe and Bob look like tastey treats

Star Wars Rangers don't have a "psychic" connection with creatures the way D&D/EQ Rangers do.

This might be a neat ability for a Jedi, but not a Ranger...

Ok, one thing I have seen work, sorta on the subject... If you are being chased by an aggro, find some yellows and run thru the pack. About an 80% chance the red will forget you and play with the yellows. I even had this work with a red on red, ran Red #1 thru a pack of Red #2 and they all started eating on each other, leaving me to go my merry little way.

This does not work on sissy animals, only those that have some fighting skills, and that are not 1xp per kill. They will scatter like the wind.

Last time I checked, Wilderness Survival, Environmental Science, Forestry, Hunting, Fishing, and Trapping were completely seperate fields from Animal Psychology and animal training .

But, the good news is you can quite handily become Master Ranger / Master Creature Handler! It's even easier for you to get babies with Ranger skills.

**edit** rangers are supposed to be able to communicate with animals somehow. They know the outdoors. And plus this is starwars. HAven't you heard that if a agressive gorillia comes charging at you that you have to stay put and don't look it in the eyes or it'll kill you? Come on rangers gottta be connected to animals in some other way too besides killing them and being able to harvest them.

ROFL! Sounds very Aquaman-ish.

I'll ask my dad (Division of Forestry Ranger) and my uncle (ex-U.S. Army Ranger) if they have any special psychic connections to animals.

I'll report back with thier responses...

Rangers DO know animals! heres an example:

"hullo mister ranger sir, do you have any pic-a-nic baskets for me to-day?"
