Thread: A closer look at Rangers

After getting bored with one character, and running dry of RP with him, I decided to start a new character. I wanted to RP a Bothan Spy. I looked and saw that Bothans had Rangers skill mods. So I say what the heck, I'll be a Ranger. I looked on the forums, and saw a lot of complaining. So here are some of my ideas for Rangers.

Make Ranger the ultimate force against creatures

Since we have so much creature knowledge, I think we should get a +dodge, +accuracy, and +damage when going into combat against creatures. For instance, a Master Fencer/Master Ranger would almost never be hit by a creature because their dodge mod is so high. And a TKM/Master Ranger would do a lot more damage. This would make sense, because we would know the weak points of the creatures and how they moved. These should be very strong, enough to make it worthwile.

Concerning the GCW

Add a Spy-like quality to Rangers

Obviously if they added a Ranger skill mod to Bothans then Rangers have something to do with spywork/camouflage. I think this could be implemented into the GCW. For example, you could cloak you and your group with a camouflage, and not be shot by turrets. Combat would disable this. This would only work outdoors.

PvP

Make camouflage make your opponent's accuracy moddrop like a bomb. This would make Rangers a lot more attractive to PvPers (which most people are today). Make them also be able to cloak their group, so that they would rarely be hit.

Factional Pet Traps

Make Rangers be able to perform special abilites on Factional pets (this is mostly for AT ST). Make them be able to do Ewok-like traps, making them more valuable against factional bases.

Radar

Make cloak be able to take us off the Radar. If someone sees a red dot coming for them, they'll be ready, but this allows for massive surprise attacks.

Camps

Now that you can call pets/vehicles anywhere, camps are very useless. There have been many posts about the modular system, and I think that should be implemented. Also, make camps more interesting. Add /tendfire and /changewood to allow a better experience while camping. Also, make it so that certain foods by Chefs can be enhanced by cooking them over a fire in a camp.

Making us unique

Make us be able to harvest certain parts off of animals that no one else would be able to,such as Krayt Dragon Pearls/Scales or Rancor Teeth/Bile, ect. Maybe not even taking it to the extreme that we were the only ones, but that we would have a 50% better chance then anyone else would.

I think I have put forth some good ideas that could really help the Ranger proffession. It needs a bit of work to spruce it up and make it less like a Super Scout.

good ideas

No flame, but all of them have been discussed and and added to our wishlist.

Except the invisible part, which unless the Dev's change their mind about, isn't gonna happen. Altho invisible to turrets hadn't been floated before.
