Thread: what combat profession alongside master ranger

ATM I am a BH with some ranger skills but i have decided to be a master ranger. So as i cant be a master BH and a master ranger what is the best combat prof to take with ranger ?
I mainly support my AS with my ranger getting hides and I also plan on helping our guild docs by getting herb and avian for them

I suggest Master Rifleman, the long range and high firepower and abilities like Rifle Concealment Chance let you pull single mobs from a lair without any fancy tricks. Just make sure you get one of those new harvesting modules in a droid when you hunt avians with your T21

BH LLC is a very good hunting weapon. BH's may hate it as it's not very good in PvP but it is outdone only by the Flamethrower for hunting and large scale harvesting. Only problem is carrying it around gets you pegged as a BH and that's not near as nice as being recognised as a Ranger

I can't speak for the ranged professions, but for me there is nothing like kicking the crap out of everything I meet with my gaffi stick while dodging just about every attack thrown at me. I love Fencer and will probably always remain a Fencer.

melee is a great choice for hunting but it's a serious pain in the ass when everyhing runs from you at 5% health just when you want to get in the killing blow lol

Camby is Master Rifles, 4004 Marksman, Master Scout, 4440 Ranger and Novice Medic (well actually she is 4140 Ranger at the moment but thats the template)
Ranger is a very interesting skill; it's not "uber" in the strictest sense, but it is quite simply fun. With Rifles she can use Maskscent+Conceal Shot as her standard combat method and go most places in the game.
Higly recommend Rifles with Ranger. It just seems appropriate!

I personally would consider first: ranged or melee.
If ranged: rifleman. not only that it matches the 'image' of a 'hunter' best of all ranged classes, it also is as of current state of the game one of the few ranged elite professions (if not the only) that has all specials working as described.
If melee: swordsman. A swordsman might not have all those fancy defense modifiers fencers have (good offense is the best defence of a swordsman) and has heavy heavy hamcost (buffs help there, swords have their highest hamcost on health which can be completly negated with doc buffs), but I personally would all the time go for more damage instead of more defense. (And you 'counterattack' a lot if constantly using center of being, there are a lot of claims out there that cob is broken for swordsman, I personally cannot see this, it works like a charm for eepeam even with quite low progress in swordsman).
