How about this: A ranger who has scout should have a significant increase in harvesting ability.
It's an interesting concept, I'll grant you that.

Gerrof my turf!
I think the idea is interesting - but maybe a little too complex?
I'd be afraid that the skills might get lost.
For example I recently read on the Entertainer boards that if an entertainer puts together firework packages (IE: must be an entertainer/artisan) he or she can get a lot more options for pauses and other arrangements, thus making a better fireworks show.
Unless you read the forums a lot there is really no real way for a new or existing player to even know that mixed profession abilities like this exist.

Sorry man, bad habit I got into in another forum. Helps me spot mine right away in a sea of threads. If it's that annoying though, I'll stop

I saw you mention that once before.. Why don't you just click on your name, and then select "View all posts by this user". That's a real easy way to spot your own threads..
Anyway, it's an interesting idea. It actually reminds me of something that exists in another game.. an rpg or some other MMO.. can't think of it, though.
Still, the current professions and skills kind of allow for that to some degree through dabbling - even if it doesn't create a unique ability.

I am still confused by the post that says "a Ranger with Scout should have ..."
Huh?
And a totally cool Ranger has quadruple masters and a really overworked one will have quintuple masters (with politician going to 0 SP)

I understand that, but this wouldn't even be an option with primary level professions. It wouldn't come inti play until you've reached Ranger. By that time, I'd hope someone had spent more than just a wekk in the game mastering Scout.

I have read a lot of posts along the lines of, "wouldn't it be cool to be able to whittle" or "let us harvest and make herbal tea out of it" etc...
While these are all very good ideas, in and of themselves they're not too practical. However, should we be given the abilities to take OTHER novice professions and mix them with ours, they would make more sense.
For instance, a Ranger with novice medic should be able to medical forage and use that to brew some campfire herbal tea. A Ranger with novice artisan should be able to forage wood and then whittle. A ranger with novice creature handler should be able to tame pets specificaly for hunting, ie, sniffing out and flushing game.
You see where I'm going with this? Many Rangers have quite a few novice professions we play with, can you think of any others that combined with ours would make for good skillsets or anything else?
What about politicia, or architect, entertainer, etc?

On the nose. I think JB's just been overworked since he took up the scout correspondent mantle.
