It just occured to me that there is some pretty interesting land forms in this game, but they don't have names except for the POIs. So I figured we should get a united ranger coalition to explore the planets and name all the interesting landforms. I know we can just randomly name them, but we should get a database going so we all use the same names, and since we are the explorers of the Galaxy, we should claim naming privileges. My only concern is whether or not all servers have the same landforms. So is anyone else interested in this?

We need names for the lakes, forests,rivers and mountain ranges, just like the real world.

If you do /who while wandering around, you'll find that the Devs have already given many areas a name. Not everything has a name (most mountains and rivers and non-POI tab POIs don't) but there are a lot more names floating around than those on the POI tabs. Also, you might like to check out this site for some maps showing most of the POIs (both those on the tab and not on the tab) in the game.

Some areas do actually have names. If you run a character search, then sometimes there will be a reigon name along with the planet the person is on (such as "Junland wastes on Tatooine".). I've still yet to learn these names, but I feel like I should.

Interesting note: None of these maps display the Tatooine Oasis's. Nice to keep them a secret I guess

If you go to Talus, there is a 3km+ road leading through the mountians on the West side of the map, about 500m-1km South of the middle line of the map. That road is The Old Road. Mainly because when I was running it (I have now run all over Talus on foot) I was thinking this was getting old. Yeah, it ends as a grassy plain. The Old Road.
EDIT: This is marked the Aegyn Foothills on the maps.

BTW Since my City is a RP city we named the River we are on the edge of. Go to the Corellia map, and in the middle near Kor Vella there is a place where 3 rivers come together. The one on the west (i think. i will edit if i am wrong) we named the Midys Uldyr, if anyone cares It is sticking in our town, hopefully it sticks elsewhere. I would be willing to help name other Rivers and such

The PC town I live in is likewise a RP town. We name the lake we are located next to Sapphire Lake, the same as our town. RP wise the town is named after the lake.
BTW, it is the large round lake in the north eastern quadrant of Naboo. And we are located on the eastern shore of the lake.

Heh... on the lovely Bloodfin, that south shore was colonized by a major Imperial PvP guild named Dread, and now... well... the nice beautiful lake is named Lake Dread. /sigh
My absolute favorite non-natural, non-POI POI is the giant floating Singing Mountain Clan bridge north of the Dath Trade outpost.
