Thread: Some Ranger Questions...

I was interested in going ranger because one of my favorite things to do is go and harvest creatures for meats and hides and such...

I used to have a template of Master Pistoleer/Master BH/Novice Medic.

I wanted to head towards Master Ranger...but it seems the only reason for me to get Master Ranger would be the +10 extra for creature harvesting.

I'm really trying to see if getting Master Ranger will really benefit me. What does camoflauge do? I know that with the advent of the medical robots, camping is not nearly important as it was long ago...so, other than being able to set up a huge camp (which looks cool) I don't know of any other real benefits to that. And, as it stands now, with a decent set of armor and a set of buffs I can kill almost any 2-3 mobs without using traps...

If i become a Master Ranger/Master Pistoleer...i won't have enough skill points left over to even put into novice medic for using stimBs mid-combat...

i'm really just looking for insight...i guess i don't have any specific question...i just am looking for a bit of direction.

Camo, aka Conceal works just like maskscent, BUT will also conceal you from NPCs in some cases (Stormies can almost neve see me while meatlumps attack with impunity). I have no comments on Traps or Camps as my playstyle does not include them (similar to my inability to be a Medic...I just forget to use it). I am sure others will speak up.

Master Ranger + Master Combat Profession (except hybrids)leaves 18 skill points. This will allow you to get novice Medic and the level 1 Medic skill of your choice.

Mine are in green.

??? (someone do the Scooby Do noise)

My current template is Master Ranger/Master Pistoleer/Novice Medic. As of right now, I can use stim Bs. I use the hell out of stim Bs some days in fact.

Besides the extra harvesting, your chances to stick traps are better. And if you ain't using traps as a pistoleer, you are a foolish person. Two traps sticking at the right time and I can drop about anything, without buffing and without armor. With buffs and armor, and a decent set of traps, I can drop anything. Cept I hate helmet head, and buffs make me all Ahnold looking.

Camo is ok, if you like to camo friends. I maskscent 90% of the time hunting creatures. Camo is for NPCs (wave at the Sith as you walk into their camps and get out the villager).

Camps - ah well. They heal just as fast as a med droid, if not faster, without the expense of a med droid. Plus you can call/store pets in them without a wait and call vehicles without a waiting time. Not real useful, but useful.

Other than the fact you are a silly Imp person, I would take you out and show you how it's done. And I know Kari is an Imp, but he likes wearing armor and beating on stuff with a hammer (no accounting for taste).

ya...i miscounted at first and realize i could get novice medic with master ranger/master pistoleer...but the question of whether it's worth it or not is still there. with a good pistol and fan shot or stopping shot i can take down monsters quickly without the use of any traps - buffed or unbuffed.

even with my master scout traps, i can still dizzy/stun monsters pretty effectively.

so - if i wanted ranger STRICTLY for the creature harvesting, i'm thinking that 0-0-4-0 would still be pretty good. that way i can keep some skills to supplement my master pistoleer status and give me a better advantage to help out my comrades in arms when it comes to pvp....

i was thinking

master pistoleer

master scout

novice medic

brawler 4-0-0-0

smuggler 0-0-4-0 (for /feigndeath and /lastditch)

ranger 0-0-4-0 (for the +40 creature harvesting bonus)

thoughts?

wulp...i figured the way i want to build my character would give me exactly -3 skill points at the end...which makes it unworkable.

i gotta go talk to the creature handlers.

thanks for the input.

Rangers Against The Garment Whose Name I Will Not Utter

on a side note, walk into the back end of the starport shuttles. Look forward (towards the front) of the ship and you will see underwear.

What JB said...It is the Ranger Crusade against that garment that tailors and entertainers love so much (unfortunately, mostly the male characters). They are so evil that they have corrupted the wearers of the garment so much that they can no longer spell the name correctly!

Now they have WINGS! (Wait, that reminds me of something...)

RATGWNIWNU is dormant right now, but shall rise again!

And take 400 hide to make! So not only do we have special versions of these evil garments but now they require a ton of resources to make

At first I was going to comment that I still liked my HP but then I rememberred that they went bye bye during my vacation (along with lots of other really nice/cool things). But instead I thought I'd se what peoples opinions were about doing Master Ranger (which I got) Master Rifleman (which I don't got yet ) and Novice CH as opposed to Novice Medic.

Skill summary would be Master Scout, Marksman 4-0-0-0, Master Ranger, Master Rifleman, Creature Handler 0-0-0-3

I am in it for the hunting aspect. I rarely wear armor. When and if I do its Ubese for Kinetic reduction. I use the pet to keep the attacker at a distance so I can use the rifle. I like having an xtra pet out so I can have a trap droid flinging those traps I forget to use all the time. I'm not into PVP except in space.
