The CU, its like looting a pair of h*wtpants off an NS Elder.
"But I honestly don't believe the downfall of the ranger profession would have a profound affect on bio-engineer like you say. Honestly, most of the meat these days is coming from people with minimal scouting skills and extremely powerful combat skills, grinding away on dathomir, killing rancors by the hundreds. It's the CU's affect on those folks that will have a lot bigger impact imo then anything that could happen to ranger."
- ArthurDentOnBria,
BE Corr
The only reason I'm not canceling my account in time for the CU is so I don't miss the chance to smugly say "I told you so."
Even if Ranger gets a Combat level equal to a someone that has all their Skill Points in pure combat, I'm done. This level system is rancid lame and weak.
I've got other forums to feed my posting addiction. I wasn't bored before I found this game and I wont be after I've stopped playing it.
I'm going to use my time to enjoy the old system while its still here.
Even in Dungeons and Dragons an Orc is an Orc, be ye Paladin, Ranger, or Druid.

Even tho I am very likely now flamed to hell and back, the BE Corr is right :-/.
Rangers are such a rare kind that they are only providing a small portion of the overall amount of huntable ressources needed by the market.

As far as he is concerned he is right. BE's rarely can compete with the high prices offered by Doctors for hunting time so their best bet is someone who is killing stuff anyway for xp and harvesting on the side like village grinders and Jedi. The Jedi in my guild brings in a lot more organics than I do simply because he is constantly grinding away.
That being said, if BE went away as a profession it would not affect me as a player. I would miss my vasarian brandy but that is about it. And honestly I only started really using brandy after I hit Master Rifleman because I was spamming headshots instead of using tactics.
I leveled up creature handler using wild pets and they make up the majority of my datapad. Since dropping master I have been using strictly wild pets.
However, if the BE profession was seriously nerfed I would be upset. Even though I no longer play it and don't really use any of its products, it is an interesting profession and adds a ton to the uniqueness factor and richness of the game. If it becomes less, the game becomes less. The same goes for Ranger. If you have never played a Ranger, don't need organics and don't need tracking, still the current situation should upset you. If for nothing else because it might have been your profession in this situation in the past, and may be again in the future. I don't think the BE Corr would disagree.

Most of the stuff I hunt for $$$ is easy to kill, if I was stacked it wouldn't be any faster. And I can find it faster than any kung fu kid. I remember the last good avian shift on Yavin. Canned Spam running every where after Whisper birds.
While me and a rad Novice Ranger I had just met are working on a Chukoo lair a group of clones pulls up to a birdy lair next to us. One says to us "Figured you rangers would be on this hot avian shift." They where proud that they had gotten in their one buff almost as much as I had pulled in an hour.
If you told Docs in live that they could ehance their buffs by 10% - 30%, but it would cost them 2x as much and use 2.5 as many resources what would they do?
Offer you 6x what you asked if you sold it to them, and didn't tell any one else.
If a doc wants to craft now he needs BE 0/0/0/4. For that line he gets all the med schems and all the experimention points in the tree. Yup the points for pets and tisues to. Its all Medical experimention now. The only pre for BE is medic 0/0/0/4 (bugged on TC still needs Scout 0/0/4/0). Oh and that's the CM stuff also. CMs won't want their abilites to be 30% better, nah never.
In march the Docs that have been doing nothing but crafting buffs as Alts so some lifeless vet can buy his Uber NSELs and LVAs, with their 12 point SEAs and seven digit bank acounts. Now they can make uber pets and tissues to boot. They where crafting alts so switching BE for Doc is a non issue.
The buffs that are coming, are small but you need less with health bonuses. Add to that the fact that armor won't touch your regen, they will really give you a boost. Saying these enhancers won't be standard is like saying Chef foods don't need BE tissues. 1/5 more heath/regen will make fighting above your level for the juicy XP more atractive.
Add a cup of 1337 d00ds a hand full of FS grinders and a dash of Jedi.
Remove the downward pressure on the Creature Resource market caused by generaly fun loving and ethical Rangers. Scout 0/0/4/0 is what 24 points that could go to raising your CL at lest a few notches? There are going to be way less dablers. The real money will be in loot much as it is now.
Let's not forget ASs need twice as much hide of every kind. Oh ya bones too. 17 skins, three types.
Nah its not going to touch the BEs one bit.

Unrelated topic - just curious. My understanding is that you do not need meds to buff or heal at all now. The only thing that is left of medical crafting is the stims that everyone can use (no medic required) and "enhancers" that allow Docs to heal/buff better. Actual buffs will not be crafted, they will just be slash commands. Were you saying in the above that buffs will be crafted? Or are you saying that enhancers will be as popular post-CU as buffs are currently? I suspect you mean the second, but I wasn't quite sure.

The second, very obviously.
The majority of players wants "the best" and if "the best" in terms of new doc buffs / heals / cm poisons / heals etc pp includes using enhancers then "everyone" will use them.
As a matter of fact, I already made sure I get supplies of enhancers for chenir as soon as possible after the CURB hits live

There was a good post going on Bloodfin boards. Someone figured up the numbers for 1 marbari chest and it came to like 710(I think) units of hide.
There was also another post detailing the new resource requirements for med crafting. Some of that stuff is insane. Like 90 units of fish or crustacean. There were very few that required resources from us.

That's exactly how I feel. It's left a horrible taste in my mouth and unless the devs change it I doubt I'll be around much longer after the CU hits live. I'll probably get master ranger/CH with medic 0440, get a few nice pets and cancel my account until such time as the level system is removed or reworked to something enjoyable.
The thing that makes this game so enjoyable for me as that it ISNT level based. I also hate the way critters alter their damage output depending on your level.

In the new system we have Stim A, B, C, D. They have three stats power, charges, and the CL you need to use them. As are CL 1 Bs are CL 15, don't know about the rest. Its probable that Bs have a shorter reuse timer than As, they do in live. I use them all the time. These are not the enhancers.
Enhancers are slated to enhance Doc\Medic\CM skills by 10% - 30%, stuff like bacta shot.
These levels aren't even Levels. I played a lot of Pen and Paper RPGs. I don't know how other MMORPGs work, but if its like this, no wonder I didn't play them long enough to figure it out. That's what my Orc is an Orc comment was about.
DnD online cometh, no PvP, caped at level 20, the devs are busting their ass to make it stick to the Pen and Paper system, cause they've all played it since they where wee babes. They also have 20 some years of DnD computer games to look at what worked and what didn't. DnD knows what it is unlike SWG. And its got what 25 years of background? SOE is peeing in its pants, and this BS with SWG is one sign. EQ wanted to be DnD. SOE bought EQ, it didn't devlop it. They lost the mind share that made it what it was a long time ago.
Oh ya the company that owns the rights to the Pen and Paper SW RPG is the same one that owns DnD. Lucas Arts has already said this isn't the vison they had for the game, but SOE has the right so its out of their hands. LA is to smart to have given them the rights forever.
What's that smell? Its the poop in SOEs pants.

What's bothers me right now is he's right. He's hit the nail on the head.
Rangers get outharvested on meat. Anyone with Novice Scout can provide more meat if they have a pure combat template.
What he's missing...
What alot of people are missing...
Is that no one will be wasting 15 skill points onNovice Scoutwhen the CU hits.
Seriously though, with the rededication of skill points across the board, and the growing value of comabt professions, expect to see fewer Novice Scouts and thus fewer combat harvestors.
