Ok, so last night a friend and I tried to find some Gorax. We searched for around three hours and only found two that another player was already working on. The only other time I hunted these guys I found one in 15 minutes. I used all the way points I found from other players and still no Gorax. I was in the desert regionwhere everyone indicated they can be found. When I would come upon a waypoint I would wait 20 seconds, do area track and then do another area track after that. Do I need to wait longer at the waypoints? Or, am I just the unluckiest Ranger ever? I really want to loot some good shards so I can finally get a nice weapon made. This is something I've never had since I started playing during beta 3. Any suggestions would be great!

Wait for the first day after a server reset, spawns are usually up like 80% on every planet. Also any other spawns in the area near where you usually see them can interfere with the servers capacity to load in what you're looking for. Take out stuff that's there, and a gorax may appear in it's place.

Considering I've seen the Peko Albatross once, in my 2 years (well, 1.5 after leaving..) of playing, you aren't the unluckiest, (and I didn't even have time to kill it before it despawned) guy around, so you can find this gorax somehow.

I tend to just drive north from the smuggler's outpost till I hit the grassy mountains, then go in a weaving pattern back and forth east and south across the desert watching my little circular radar with /con on. Anything that shows up as yellow on it is a Gorax or some angry maurader. They tend to dwell near the little mountain peaks that jut out of the desert around all the plains in my experience, so when you near a high point in the desert, drive around it once to make sure everything spawns. Waiting around doesn't help too much, since most waypoints are out of date (seeing as there aren't really any static spawns of Gorax), so you're better off just driving around looking behind you and at your radar (set at 512m).

Anyways, that's how I find em, hopefully that's somewhat helpful.

Get on a bike (not a swoop) make a macro named gorax as follows. /target gorax; macro gorax run it.

drive around the desert area mostly around the SE corner, make a wp drive to the end of the desert, make a wp. drive 75 perpendicular to the line you just made. run parallel to that line. repeat until you have covered about 1 million square meters (a 1km by 1km) box. now go over the area you just searched, you just made a bunch of stuff spawn.

of course if at any time you target a gorax from your macro, go back and kill it. save the wp's from each kill, best way is when you have the gorax targeted type /waypoint. (If you have something targeted, it makes a wp at that location, not your own) Name the wp according to what droped, gorax for nothing smug for smuggler items, bone for bone drop. There are patterns there trust me!
