Thread: What is a fair price for creature resources?

I'm a doctor so I'm always looking for a couple things - Herbivore and Avian meat. What do you folks, as rangers, feel is a fair price for such items? Here's my perspective:

It required 16 units of herbivore meat to make an Advanced Chemical Release Duration Mechanism, which can be used in just about any medical item to boost the power. For example, a Small Stimpack - B (which is the best medical seller) requires 104 units of resources (using all advanced subcomponents). I can then turn around and sell that stmipack for 900-1000 credits. That means I'm making about 9-10 credits per unit of resources used. Based on that, I can afford to pay in the range of 6-10 credits per unit of herbivore meat.

So what do you consider to be a fair price? I think I usually am offering a fair market value for meat (sometimes my offers are low if the quality is poor or the stacks are small) but that's usually because I don't want the meat that badly. If it's good quality meat, though, I regularly offer 8 credits per unit for it.

Is that a fair price? Is it worth your time to harvest meat and sell at that price?

Additionally, I'm helping run a medical supply shop with a business owner and I'd like to be able to offer meat to the doctors that frequent the shop. In order to do that, I need to be able to pull large amounts of meat from the community as my customers want stacks large enough to use in a factory. (At 16 units per subcomponent, 800 units are required for a single crate of subcomponents.)

However, I digress. What is a fair price? Obviously, you want to get as much as you can and I want to pay as little as I can. But what's a fair medium? How much must you be paid in order to make it worth your time to harvest items?

Thanks.

What's fair? Interesting question. Depend on a couple/three things -

How easy or hard is it to get herbie meat, on an average basis?

How many other people need herbie meat?

What can you do for me?

Meat is easy to get, usually, just get off your dead butt, on your dying feet and go kill some things. Even freaking durnis and paralope give herbie meat. As long as there is not a stupid resource shift - you get one unit of meat, the creature, altho it weighs 9 tons, is sick and scrawny or skinny - going on, even a novice scout could get a fair amount of meat in a day.

Ok Doc, on to #2 - who is competeing with ya? Stim makers, chefs, BEs... and what are they willing to pay?

Finally - what can you do for me? A case of stims at cost or at least a deep discount? Free heals? You tell me.

I work a lot on the barter system. People owe me favors, I owe them favors, and the world turns. The only people I use cash with, weaponsmakers. And they live on another planet and I can't/don't mine in the quantities they want, need and desire.

For friends 2.2cpu. The bazaar - 3.5 - 7 cpu, depending on how much a pain in the rear it is to harvest the stuff.

The answer to this question needs to be defined by the economic state of your galaxy at the moment.

Reading what you've stated about your galaxy, I think those prices are fair.

I'm harvesting on orders... Example: On Eclipse there is some really nice Tatoonian Scaley Hide, but it's rather hard to come around. The customer, a armorsmith, offered me 15c/unit... that's something that really get me go hunting for Scaley

I usually don't harvest meat, as I've just recently changed my skills from crafting/entertainer to scout/ranger/riffleman... so I need those hide and bones, don't want to waste it on bad meat that nobody is interested in buying...

I have been a resource dealer since week 1. Now I've long since had to give up surveying, but still have harvesters running to supply me with my main source of cash. The meat and hides market are so under supplied right now I find I can get 10cpu for meat even if its low quality within 2 hours of placing it on the bazaar, because literally while browsing the bazaar there are no stacks of meat over 100 typically. My prices usually hover around 3-6 credits per unit however since that seems more fair IMO. I don't want to be gouged if I go to buy food or medical supplies, so I don't gouge when I sell meat or hides.

My biggest problem is that I can't find anyone selling it. I've put posts on the Flurry boards and talked to a number of folks in game. I just can't find enough folks that want to do this as a profession. Just last night I went to drop a harvester on Dantooine and found someone out there gathering some commando XP by himself. I asked if he had been harvesting items off the creatures he was killing and he said, "Nah. I just let 'em rot." Of course, a little while later, I paid someone 20K credits for 2K units of avian meat. It's not that I'm not willing to pay a good price for this stuff, it's just that I can't find anyone to buy it from.

If you're interested in selling me some (on Flurry), contact Bulbados.

Thanks.

Before harvest nerf I would charge 10-8cpu for meat with high PE and OQ the, medium stuff 4-7cpu, and the really crappy meat 2-3 cpu. Now that everyone harvests have been cut in half my prices have gone up 25 percent.

From what I have read, it sounds like the harvesting solo thing has been fixed now. YEAH!! Can't wait to try it out... if so, I will get Herbivore and Avian meat for the med guys, and hides and bone for the armor guys...

My harveters can continue to help the weaponsmiths...

One stop shop.. when I am not busy killing people instead of animals...

Will the DEVs PLEASE allow us to harvest NPCs... they would make such good rugs for my home...

I can see it now.... smokin a stogie.. "this little stuffed arse took me two trips to the cloning ctr, and a whole lot of shootin' but I got the sum B***H..." :-) And imagine the look armor would have... :-)

YES, the last part IS a joke... but the first party seems true.. will check it out tonight....

I'm curious about this question myself. For me the fair price is whatever the market will bear. I am still relatively new (playing for 2 weeks) and recently collected around 1500 herbivore meat of high quality (960ish OQ, but not particularly good PE) while running yucca boar missions on Tatooine. I tested out the market by putting a stack of 300 up for sale for 2700 on the bazaar. It was sold when I logged in the next night.I then put the remaining 4 stacks of 300 each up for sale at 3000 each. These were also all sold (to the same buyer) when I logged in thefollowing night. So I'm guessing that I still haven't hit the max that the market will bear. Of note is that I almost never see decent quality meat of any quantity over 100 on the bazaar indicating that they are scooped up very quickly after being placed. I don't like to gouge either but this is basically going to be my major source of income (selling organics) so that I can afford to buy all your high quality stims and power-ups.

All resources from creatures are very hard to collect now even by the most advanced ranger. Prices are rising very fast accordingly and since the global reduction in resources per creature prices have seen up to 50% increase over the standard rate. I sell myvery highquality stuff for 15 cr/per at present my standard stuff at 7-11 and my odd and very rare low quality stuff for 2-5.

Theres the equation for calculating a price.

1. Add all the stats the customer is interested in up.

2. Divide by the number of stat areas interested in multiplyed by 100.

3. Multiply by 1.5 (indicating a 50% inflation in resource prices.)

Example:

Armoursmith wants materials with high quality Malebility, Shock Resistance, Unit Toughness and Overall Quality.

I add up the stat numbers of my material from those 4 areas. With my current stock this figure equals 3560.

I then divide this figure by the number of stats areas interested in (4 in this case) multiplyed by 100.

So 4x100 = 400

Then 3560/400= 8.9

Thenthe current inflation multiplyer of 1.5. 8.9 x 1.5 = 13.3 cr/per

See if you can get your head around that
