Thread: Just a Small Warning...
For those of you leaving our profession, or any profession, thinking you might just pick it up again quick if it improves, because you have a ton of exp rolled up...
When you surrender your skill boxes down, your exp caps for those types of exp changes.. The game seems to check when you have a chance to gain xp, and it WILL 'adjust' your capped exp for you.
As an example: I had Novice Pistoleer, and, oh, about 80k of exp toward a box. Now, I don't use pistols by trade except for pulling, and emergencies when I need range. I needed some skill points, so I burned it down, back to Marksman, pistols 2. For some reason, I thought to myself 'It takes 85k to get back up to Marksman Pistol 4 if I need to, and I've almost got that, if I ever wanted to pick it back up'.
That night, I went out soloing, as usual. The first mob I pulled, I hit with a shot, it came, I melee'd it down. The usual 'You gained xxx exp messages' flashed up on my display.. Except one caught my eye.. "You have gained -48784 Pistol Experience". Hmm.. I go check in my skills, and sure enough, it has cut away my exp, and autocapped me at the 30k I can have for being at Pistol 2.
Just a friendly warning to think about. If you figure that all of the extra exp you have earned over master levels can be used to easily 'reaquire' most of a profession that you are dropping, i.e. Ranger, you may be in for a shock when you come back to find you have to start almost from the beginning. Might want to think long and hard over giving up entire lines.
