Hi guys. I started a charactor on Chilristra server. My concept for him is that he is a decendant of Native American Indians. He has an Indian Name Eyota Maka wich loosly translated means Earth Spirit. Anyway I have a question for you Rangers.

I would love to make aMaster Ranger/MasterCreatrue Handler. Problem is that it would only leave me with 47 skill points.

Would this charactor Playable? What would I spend my 47 left over points on?

Could I kill high level creatures byusing my pets and traps alone? How much damage can a trap do at high levels?

I could spend my left over points to go up sniping tree in rifleman without any ranged support abilities from marksman. I could get to expert sniper. That would zero out my points. That would only be good if I was able to keep a large supply of the pet stims.

Or I could take medical and rely on traps and pets. Is that feesable?

I have a pure pvp charactor on Scylla so I am not interested in that. Just exploring. Hunting and playing with my pets.

Thanks in advance for your input and forgive my ignorance on this subject.

well as a master ch you should be fine with a CDEF pistol give to you at the start. hehe. I dont really know anything about the CH so your on your own there. Rifle I have been told is a good weapon as it is long ranged. You could maskscent hide out and send your pet. But If something sees you the rifle kind of sucks point blank. You have to be with in i think 50 m to chuck a trap so I just use a Carbine as its not bad at range or up close. One other thing the ranger traps are being reworked so I just use the scout traps at this time. I am not to sure how much help I have been Sorsha Havblaster Bria

My character setup is close to what your thinking but without going master ch.

Try this for a charactertemplate Master Ranger, Master CH, Rifleman 0003 with only rifles in marksman. What this will do is allow the use of the T21 with +30 to rifle speed. You will get flurry shot which will do damageto multiple HAM other than concetrating on just mind and help out your pet with some added firepower. The T21 isnt the monster that it used to be (was the proud owner of a prepatch 228-520 9.0 5600 mindshots!!) but is pretty hefty with dps as your speed increases. My DPS without the speed increase is a measley 42 but right now I am shooting roughly every 2 second and would put it in the range of 157 and that is with only 2 in the rifle special abilities. Either way you go, I would get some weapons exp because mission terminals are based off your weapon skill and with no fighting skills you will get wimpy missions to start with and if your planning on owning a house/harvestor you will need money to support yourself. Heh just thought of this.. to get up to novice ch unless your given a non ch pet at the start you will need something to kill the creatures your going to harvest for exp hehehe. So a weapon would be good choice in that template.

Thanks alot guys..your replies realy helped. I picked up pistol because it just seems so easy to level. I made novice pistoleer in two days..also novice ch. I am now 1-1-1-1 in ch as soon as my new Greater Sludge Panther is full grown Imay pick up Rifle. Butit seems that with the Two Health Shots stacked my pistol skills help my pets kill things quite a bit.

Any other input would be great.

One of my characters (Ooki) is currently working on this template:

Master Scout, Master Ranger, Master Creature Handler, Novice Carbine up to marksmanship 3.

So far it's working out really well. As far as weapons go, I think it really comes down to a matter of personal preference, since your pet is your primary weapon (and armor). Though, when I'm out exploring and getting into trouble, I generally don't keep a pet up.

I buy pet stims from a BE, and plop down a camp when I need to heal, visit town when BF gets too high.

With 35 points you can get to Novice Pistoleer and get DX2 certification (15 for novice marksman, 14 for the pistol tree, and 6 for the novice pistoleer). The remaining 12 points can go towards some of the Pistoleer boxes.
