Yes.
And the developers think so to.
I direct your attention to Holocron's thread at the top of this forum. ![]()

exactly.
not only should we have more traps, but they should actually
do something a little more useful than what the scout traps can already do.
Flash bomb is just that, flash. as of now its something you can throw to
make the newbies go, 'what was that?' then you tell them and they say, 'oh.'
then proceed to mark Ranger off their list
Keep watching the ranger forum though, NRaas has been sending many, many
suggestions to the devs and they are listening!
Sildas,
SWG wants us to group in the game, but did you ever realize how much more we group
in the forums?

Advanced Trapping
Rangers are getting a whole new trapping system. Instead of throwing their traps at a target like Scouts, Rangers will deploy their traps on the ground. Each trap will have a different kind of effect. Here are some examples:
Heavy Claw Trap - In order to use this trap, you'll need to draw a creature across it. When the creature draws near enough, the heavy claw trap snaps shut, rooting the creature. The stronger the creature, the more likely it will eventually work itself free.
Lure - A lure can be filled with meat or greens to attract nearby creatures. A creature who detects a lure might break off from its packmates to inspect it.
Tripwire - The tripwire trap can be laid against NPCs as well as creatures. A target who runs across the tripwire will be knocked on his back for a short time.
These unique traps should increase the Ranger's effectiveness soloing and in groups.
I think the new trap system is one of the better things they're looking at, dropping them instead of chucking them. If anyone here's played Ragnarok(Hunter class that is)they'll recognise the system. It takes a lot more strategy, but it will probably be more dependable and realistic.
Heavy Claw Trap - Great. Set up group near creatures. Drop a few of these right in front of the group. Fire. Alternatively, set a ring of these up outside creature lairs to trap anything that may spawn, possibly allowing a group to take the nest out first and picks mobs of one by one after.
Lure - An extremely good trap, the Rangers solution to BAF mobs. Will be very useful in solo play, small groups, or very high-level BAF's.
Tripwire - Knockdown Ranger style. Less convenient then just shooting a suppression fire, but hopefully more effective to make up for that. It will be usable on NPC's, hopefully we can lobbby for it's use against Pets and Faction pets to make the Ranger a slightly more viable PVP support class.
I'm hoping the hunting blind and the traps will come out around the same time. If we do get this stuff there will be many, many strategies for us to think of and use. One is to set up a hunting blind, then make a ring completely around it or just on one side of Heavy Claw Traps. Next, strategically place a few Lure Traps to get some nice MOBS within firing range. Then kill kill kill.
Another thing I used to do in Ragnarok was throw a line of three snare traps between me and a creature. I'd then lure the creature over the first and proceed to shoot it in the face. Eventually it would free itself, but would then run over the second. I'd lay down a couple more, then continue shooting as it repeatedly drove itself into my line of anklesnares.
Now, obviously that can't be done with throwable traps, but as long as we can place more then one droppable trap at a time, this has the potential to be an amazing solo strategy.

I don't know what any of you think, but I would like to see traps that affect CH pets and regular players in a PvP enviroment. Seems to me that a Master Ranger could use his power against players just as the BH's would like to see player bounties.
I just think it would ad more diversity to the profession.

Maybe this is really wishful thinking, but I would love to see more area effect ranger traps. Perhaps a new area-effect trap per level and a real kisser at Master Ranger.
I'd love to see something like glow-wire, but with an area effect. That way, I launch one of those babies and with my multiple/area attack, I can dispatch many at once. It would be a nice trap that can work effectively inconjunction with high-level combat abilities. I'd also like to see a much larger effective radius... or atleast one that we can change with experimentation.
