Thread: Feign Death for Us -- this one
Sorry for the repeat post. Anyway... A while back when the last bigfix was published, there was an error in the release notes saying feign death was fixed for rangers. This was actaully a misprint that belonged under the smuggler heading. But it got me thinking that the feign death ability would make sense as a ranger ability.
Maybe it would just be creature specific andnot work with NPCs and PCs. But I was curious whether other rangers would like this as ability for us, in faking out the creatures we hunt. After all, remember the advice you were told in cub scouts? If you see in a bear in the woods, play dead...
Just a thought.

I think it makes sense against animals.
Smuggler's feign death saves them from PvP deathblows.
Considering we have so many survival skills, playing possum in situations you cannot win is definitely missing. Even Boy Scouts are instructed how to play possum.
Many animals only attack you because they see you as a threat and panic. If youtuck into the fetal position (protects vital areas) and lay still with no resistance they will likely leave after raking you over a few times. If you're lucky, that is.
Difference between possum and feign death could be that animal still attacks you when you hit /possum, but the likelihood of them ceasing the fight is greatly increased if you are possuming and not fighting back. It also doesn't work against NPCs and PCs, so that feigndeath is still a Smuggler thingy.

This is me playing possum from a Rancor. It worked, maybe because I didn't shoot him or fight back, but he didn't deliver the deathblow. screenShot0065.jpg - 0068 illustrate how I envision a Ranger to use the possum ability.
