heh..firstly I want to say that this is NOT a flame.
I wanted to respond to you Recognize and say that I would have preferred a reason why you think Ranger is worthless rather than post a vague insult on the devs, could you please elucidate on why.
(yes, we have a lot of problems with the profession, but which prof doesnt?)
We have read a lot of posts describing how traps/ camps/ camo dont meet our expectations, those issues are clear and well documented. We are working with (and not against) the dev team with the help of our correspondant to make ranger a better profession. As NRaas has said many times, it will take patience...and most of us have a lot of that.
I have spent some time hologrinding and Ive noticed that for all the professions, Ranger is relatively bug-free. (im not saying that we are at 100%, that's just naive) however, for example, Pistoleer..only aboout 1/2 of their specials work, pikeman couldnt hit the ground if they dropped their pike, and a lot of the crafting professions continue to suffer from numerous bugs during their playtime.
I could go on ad nauseum about bugs in the game but thats not the point right now. I play ranger because for what it is right now, it fits my style of play. What Rangers can do right now, is usefull and effective for what I do. I found that when I surrendered all scout/ ranger skills to go hologrind, I was missing both professions.
Of course I want things to get better, I want better traps, camps, camo (a ranger specific weapon) but that may come in the future. When I get the title Master Ranger again, thats what I will display over my head and not the mastery title of my combat profession. Why? Because for better or for worse, I love being a Ranger and I can use the skills it gives me to accomplish the goals I have in the game.
However, if you expanded upon your post describing why Ranger is worthless to you, then that may lead the community to consider the ideas and make suggestions to make it better.
PS:
According to your sig,
maybe you should add a new line "Worthless is Essential"
thats all i have for now

Ranger is a way of life. Camps may not work as advertised, trapping may be worthless, camo may not be much better than mask scent and fast-crawling may be rather pointless - I love it anyways

I think any prof you do not like will seem worthless, it's a personal thing. IMHO I like the prof, very fun to play (as I do not care for much PvP and enjoy more RPG and PvE).

I love how people view a profession that doesn't make them uber masters of death in the PVP world automaticaly dis our Profession. If you don't like it, drop it. As for me, that Master Ranger title will never leave my characters head.

Questions like this always remind of the old AA commercials. "If you have to ask yourself if you have a drinking problem, then you probably do".
Does Ranger really blow? Nah, I don't think so anyway. Sure, there's some stuff that's flat-out broken, and stuff that needs to be tweaked, but overall I think it works pretty well.
Now ask yourself, "Is Ranger worthless?"
If you think it might be, then, foryou anyway, it probably is.

heheh actually as a Bio Engineer, crawling fast is one hell of a time saver when you have to crawl up to a mutant rancor from 70m

I love being a Ranger. I get more requests to help with Krayt hunts, BE DNA hunting, and CH Baby hunting than I can handle. The extra harvests are fantastic, I can easily get 10k meat in just a couple hours.
Even PvP it is fun. Nothing like running through the hills with camo and pulling people into groups of aggros. Although I do wish my traps worked on CH pets, but that is an argument for another time.
I even love the foraging. It is the only way I can keep The Best Darn Bait Shop on Tatooine stocked.

Always thought it was funny that, when getting incapped from the prone position, one must first stand up before falling back down. Not that it's ever happened to me, mind you... nooooo!
