INTRO

Thanks for the great feedback on the previous thread everyone and the effects of that feeback have made considerable changes to this idea.

Its clear that from the original idea i missed alot out (remember hungover and only brainstorming hehe) but people still liked the basic concept. So here goes the new version that encorporates the tailors considerably in the quest stages and crafting stages.

To view the orginal idea im sure its floating around somewhere. This idea follows on and takes key components out of that idea so if you wanted added details and info simply look it up in the original post.

heres the link:

Jakra Lan 1.0

Ok looks like this is the perfect oportunity to push two completely different quest ideas into the fold and develope those based on what both professions like.

As i see it we havea fewoptions. The main idea behind thequest will be that in order to get this super special clothing, both the ranger and tailor will need each other to prove their respective trades in order to make/get these special clothing items. The items are so rare and so unique, that both professions will need to be closesly tied to Jakra in order to create or get theitems needed for the final product. Noone else knows how to make this clothing, and if you prove yourself the Jakra he will HELP YOU make some.

There aretwo preliminary sides to the main quest:

  • The rangers will need to complete their side of the quest to gain the certs for the clothing and various hunting trophys aswel as the badge.

  • The tailor will need to complete their side of the quest to gain the schematics for the components needed for the clothing aswel as (various art items) and the badge.

After this point both professions have completed the quest for gaining Jakra's trust (Preliminary). Its is now up to both professions to work together toget the clothing.Below is the basic set up for the preliminary stages of the quests.

On the tailor side the basic preliminary idea is as follows:

  1. The tailor finds Jakra bychatting to some npcs (similar to ranger side).

  2. Talk to Jakra

  3. Set out on first mission

  4. Get schematics for1 of the ten components

  5. Set out on second mission (maybe interplanetary travel needed)

  6. Get schematics for1 of the ten components (Collectively = 2/5) + Art Item (Tailor related)

  7. Set out on third mission (perhaps involving participation by ranger)

  8. Get schematics for1 of the ten components (Collectively = 3/5) + Art Item (Tailor related)

  9. Answer questions based on parts of your profession and if answered correctly progress

  10. Get the last 2 schematics (Collectively = 5/5) + Jakra Lan Badge

And for the ranger:

  1. The ranger finds Jakra by talking to various contacts and tracking him down using their skills.

  2. Talk to Jakra

  3. Do first mission (Hunt Malrok Stag)

  4. Do second mission (Cook dinner)

  5. Answer hunter/ranger specific questions to progress and recieve Hunting Trophy

  6. Recieve item datadisk from Jakra

  7. Set out and get the items highlighted from the animals in Jakra's datadisk then return the 10 items to Jakra

  8. Give items to Jakra and recieve 10 'refined' sub-componentsinreturn

  9. Answerhunter/ranger questions to progress.

  10. RecieveHunting Trophy andJakra Lan Clothing Certs (perhaps need to do quest again per piece?)

Ok now the tailor has the ability to craft the components needed to create the'Jakra LanClothing'. The ranger now is certed for the clothing and has the sub-components for the clothing.

The ranger will need to contact and hire a tailor for this next section and mirrored, the tailor will need to recieve custom from a ranger if he/she wants to create the clothing.

The next steps are as follows:

  1. Ranger hires tailor and give payment

  2. The ranger gives the subcomponents to the tailor

  3. The tailor then uses these 10 sub-components to craft the5 main components needed to make'Jakra LanClothing'

  4. They then head to Jakra's hunting cabin.

  5. The tailor talks to Jakra and he takes him/her through the story of how it works, how it is made and what is needed.

  6. Jakra introduces the tailor to the special crafting station needed to put the components together and the tailor selects which piece of clothing they want to craft.

  7. The tailor then inputs the items needed (maybe materials other than components also, but all craftable on site if the tailor has the resources)

  8. The crafting process starts and the 'Jakra LanClothing' item is deposited into the tailor's inventory.

  9. The tailor then sells the item to the ranger (for a hefty price of course )

Ok now the tailor has completed his/her side of the overall quest.the rangeris nowfree to wear this item if he/she wishes, however to gain the true unique properties that only Jakra himself can apply to an item, the ranger must finish the final part of the quest.

This next section turns the Jakra Lan Clothing into the Jakra Lan Wilderness Clothing. The difference being the Jakra Lan Clothing has no stats, wherass the wilderness version is the one with the stats.

Here is the final questwhat therangerhas to do:

  1. Do the first mission of settingoff to find final items on Jakra's home planet (This could be 5 items all lootable from various creatures)

  2. Take the items and the Jakra Lan Clothing to Jakra

  3. Give them to him and the enhancment process starts

  4. Do the second mission (cook him dinner again)

  5. Recieve your Jakra Lan Badge, Jakra Lan Hunter/Legendary Hunter title and your Jakra Lan Wilderness Clothing item.

  6. Stand smuggly outside Theed Startport with your new title and clothing on

Ok just some things to add.

  • The enhanced clothing will have the same stats as detailed in the original idea.

  • The 'Jakra Lan Clothing' you buy from the tailor side of the quest is simply the exact same looking clothing as the enhanced stuff but without the stats that come with it. This way the tailors are responsiblefor crafting the main part of the item and infact the final part if the ranger wishes but the quest storyabout Jakras secret ways and legendary techniques is still maintained.

  • The tailor should have the option to select from a wide range of color options whilsthe/sheis crafting.

  • Once the tailor has finished and got the badge on the preliminaryquest, he/she can return as many times as they want andselect to craftwhatever clothing piece they want to. All they need to do is have the5 components ready.

  • Aslong as the rangerknows whereto get the items for the sub-components he/she can return at any time and getJakra to'refine' these items into the sub-components needed. The ranger would not have to answer any questions or recieve any reward, simply say he would like Jakrato refine the items he hasso he mayattempt to get more clothing.

Final Thoughts.

There a quiet afewnew ideas thrown around in here that have taken into account alot of views from both sides. In the end i think itwould provide a fun andexcitingset of quests for bothprofessionswith nice rewards for each side.

From the original idea we established a good set of ranger missions to go with the quest, however i have no ideas of what tailors would want in terms of mission set up etc, so i left those detailed as mission 1,2,3 etc. Have you any suggestions on possible tailor missions? what would be fun but also challanging and somehow involve the mystery of Jakra in some way?

obviously the rangers around here love the idea of having hunting trophies as rewards, i have no idea what the tailors would want so instead of just guessing i put the option down as 'Art Item'. Do you tailors have any ideas on what art item they could be? what you would want? And also what name would you wantfor your badge or even would you want a new title linking to the quest?

I knowthe clothing requires alot of effort from both sides but i think this is how it should be. It should be hard to get and require you to work together. I dont think the tailor should be able to craft the whole thing whilst sitting athome next to a standard crafting station because it spoils the idea of Jakra Lan having and crafting this amazing clothing. Instead the idea has been move towards, he teaches the tailors to make the components needed so they can craft them by themselves, but in order to compile and fit together all the other pieces they need Jakras guidance and help. The tailorsstill craft the items themselves however they need Jakras help. I think this totally fits in with the main story and doesnt take anything away fromthe tailoreither.

As for letting you craftthe 'Jakra LanClothing'piece (The clothig with no stats)i think this is the best way currently (from what i can think of) that maintains the fact Jakra Lan is legendary in the ranger world and this special clothing issuper rare, whilst at the same time pushing the tailor into thequest as the mainpiece to 'craft' the Jakra Lan Clothing.

Having the stats applied to it later (turning it from Jakra Lan Clothing into Jakra Lan Wilderness Clothing) simply lets us rangers have an extra little quest on the end because after all, afterwe get you the sub-components, we basically just give you the pieces and stand around waiting.

Thanks for readting........... Again.......

Why not just make it an honerary Ring given to you from Jakra for proving yourself. The countless hours spent killing his rare creatures from the mighty planets could just be to hear his great story. Then in the end he gives you this ring proving you are his friend and a true ranger.

The ring could have some sort of mod.. but it doesn't have to.. would be nice though. Or wearing the ring could give you a special Title to wear above your head other than master Ranger which is already rare making you truely unique.

This should keep everyone happy.

I posted this on the previous thread but was afraid it would be ignored. So hear it is again..Still equally applicable

I'd rather see the dev time spend on fixing the fundamentals of rangers and the art time spend on adding more schematics for tailors for clothes everyone can wear. Spend a little time on rebalancing armor so various types are good for various activities (padded good for npc's, comp good for pvp, ubese good for creature hunting and maybe add a 2nd armor for each purpose) sothe amount of "clones" running around is reduced. Most rangers in here unique individuals (they'd have to be or they wouldn't be one ) and don't want to be limited to a specific set of garments.

As for giving something to do "after" Master Ranger, this would keep you occupied (casual player) for about a week. Give us rangers a use in PvP and/or PvE groups. Add the ability for us to make hunting trophies from slain creatures (slain by ourself or group members). That is a more fundamental endgame that can last longer.

I don't like looted/quest schematics becoming the norm for all new stuff, especially for items that affect the way you look (tailor/armorsmith).

It's a nice idea, but it's icing on the cake and the cake right now is still halfbaked in the oven.

To the tailors: Our final proposals are always done in such a way they don't harm another professions. Please don't get all worked up over a first rough draft.

While I agree Washell I'm bored at work so meh

If it was implemented:

1) Every piece should be unique to the person who ordered it from the talior.

2) It should be highly customisable from how it looks, colours and the mods that are on it. Any ranger mod that the person wants should be allowed on the clothing in any order up to a maximum of +25 points combined.

3) We should lobby for hoods so the tailors get something as well

Previously: Master Ranger/Master Fencer
Now: Master Tailor/Merchant/Commando

I would love this Quest.

Great Ideas and a good concept I hope the DEVs read it and think about it.

Thats one of the main things that irritates me realy. If they dont have time or cant implement it then fair enough but i hate it when great ideas like what we had going in the outdoorsman doesnt even get a look at. Just seems our times are wasted.

All we want is the odd nice work guys, that would be real fun or here my questions about it etc.

I think the small comments here would realy push the imaginations into full gear

Again, I think the only problem that the Tailors are gonna have is the requirement to go to a specific location to craft the stuff, and needing the Rangers to grab the sub-parts.

I suggested it this way: Ranger collects resource X for Jakra, begins learning more about the clothing, get's reward X (the way i'd like to see a reward for the small quests -- new items we can forage. Jakra tells you what a very specific plant looks like and you can, from then on, have a chance to forage that item.)

You then do missions to collect various resources/trophies. I'd REALLY like to see the ranger be able to make trophies, but alternatively, if taking one of these quests causes a "mission" spawn (i.e. a very specific creature, one only) that, when you kill it, places a trophy in your inventory, I'd like that as well.

Once you go through the sub misions, you get the schematic for one item of Jakra Lan clothing.

Now Tailors can do one of two things: they can themselves go on a Jakra Lan mission, and learn the schematic from him directly (creating a permanent schematic in their datapad--no limited use) or a Master Tailor can purchase the schematic you get from Jakra Lan and use it up to 3 times. The limited use of the schematic would inspire Tailors to do the Jakra Lan mission with you.

This would requirethe addition of a new way of looking at mission schematics. It is silly to believe that an elite Master artisan (DE, Tailor, Chef) could use a schematic multiple times and yet not remember how to make it after that. I.E. any missions done BY a Master elite crafting proffession would, rather than creating a limited-use schematic, would create a permanant one.

Thus, a Tailor (for example) could do any side quests where schematics are the reward. By doing so they can create as many of that object as they want, as long as they are a Master (dropping master negates this). OR, if anybody else does the mission, a limited-use schematic (like the ones given now) is produced, and the person can sell it to the crafter.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I'd recommend making the Ranger obtained schematic single use (but the ranger quests give the certs, single use is so that you can get one set of the clothing). The tailor quest gives a permanent schematic (maybe like RIS where you need special components to make it? Even if I don't like that idea it is worth mentioning). So a Tailor that does the quest can make the stuff as much as they want but only a Ranger that does the quests can wear it. But not knowing a Tailor that has done the quests doesn't prevent the Ranger from getting a set of the clothes.
