Or do I just need the tracking tree? I have to drop a tree in ranger for artisan and was curious if it will affect tracking?
Thanks for any help

All you need to track any animal is tracking one. However, if you go too low in tracking you lose range (not so important) and direction (uber-important.)

You can use Novice Ranger to track animals (like Krayts) but it won't give you direction or distance information. If you get (Tracker) then you have all the tracking abilities of a Master Ranger.

It's important to remember that this skill is only useful if the creature your hunting (in this case a krayt) has already spawned within 500m of your current location. There is no option to /find krayt nor is there a way to search an area outside that 1000m circle.
The tracking "mods" give no bonus towards what creature appears in an /areatrack they just affect what information you recieve.
I get too many requests asking me to tellpeople where a krayt is or track down a krayt.
Any tracking requires time and knowledge of your target and their spawning patterns... often it involves firepower as well to clear areas and increase the chances of a spawn.
hope that helps...
