...out hunting pikets because they have good meat and I had a contract for Dantooine milk. I run out to my mission and what do I see? Some nnob with a buff is attacking my lair. I know he was a noob cause I watched him attack the same piket plains walker for about 2 minutes while barely sacratching it. So I figure well this is my mission so I walk up and do 3 or 4 headshots on the thing, kill it and harvest it. Then this guy comes up to me and says did you just kill the piket I was killing? I say yeah it's my mission that I got from the terminal. He immediatly threatens to report me for kill stealing to a csr. I say go ahead it's my mission if anyone is kill stealing it's you pal, and you didn't just take xp, you took the milk I could have gotten from the thing since I can't milk a critter that's under attack. Then he has the gall to tell me that all cratures are free for anyone to attack. I agree with him and point out that the picket was free for me to attack. he cusses me out and runs off. gotta love these people lol.

Ok, two things -

1. Unless he was standing there when you got within 100m of the spawn site, how could he attack your mission? Missions do not spawn until the "owner" wanders in.

2. Next time tell the n00b that if the lair has a name - as in "picket lair" - then it is a mission. Lairs labeled "thickets" "pile of bones" etc. are static spawns.

Reminds me of the noob who wanted to duel me. Called me a wussy. Dropped him, laffed at him, then walked off - no DB. He whined I did not heal him. Threatened to "put a bounty" on me. Now he says he is collecting friends. I think I am spozed to be scared, but sorry, I am more amused.

not all n00bs are morons, just that 10% that grates on your nerves 90% of the time

thats not always the case....if you have 2 missions close together you might get both to spawn and while you are fighting one lair someone can come along and take you other one...i've had this happen to me quite a few times. So yes the hunter does need to get within range to spawn it but he doesn't always have to be going to that mission to do it.....

I have both had this happen to me and did it accidently. When it happens theres not much that you can do. But I was beating up quenkers and got caught up in the moment. I killed three looked over and saw "Quenker lair" and someone, buffed, leveling up unarmed. You could tell since it was just spin kick and repeat and not much damage done. So I apoligized and went over and tanked for the guy and kept him healed up. He didnt seem to care. But I felt guilty.

Did this by mistake twice the other evening while training up a new scout.

We'd scooted thru the pass SW of Espa, into the hills near the stone circle. Nice spawn of bantha, so I'm dropping them and he's fleshing them, getting on just fine and dandy. We'd taken a dozen or so, with two or three matriarchs thrown in for good measure when I wandered a little further south, tabbed and there was a matriarch bantha lair/nest/thingy.

Can we say "oops". Anyway, it was a good opportunity to explain to matey about mission spawns, wild spawns and why we leave other folks missions alone.

Of course, 15 minutes later, another nice spawn of something or other, and there, right on the edge of my radar, pops up a nest.

Dunno if I was more annoyed at myself for NOT noticing or at the dozy beggar that'd spawned the lairs and hadn't come out to do them. Walked off that one too. Even though it hurts to leave a perfectly healthy spawn to puff out because no b*ggers actually harvesting it.

Oh that mission nests gave the owners name in the /exam window. Then I could give THEM a piece of my mind for a change...

I'll admit to getting a bit pissed off when I politely tell the person they're hitting my mission but they ignore me and then sod off once it's done. I've done it a few times myself though, mainly because of the fact i cant tell the Nearest Group Mission wp to bugger off. I'm usually busy babbling in guildchat/my town chat and I go to the nearest group wp instead of mine. Rushed apologies and explanations follow...

You said you were hunting both meat and milk, but you still could have gotten the milk after it was killed by typing /harvest milk with the corpse targeted.

Apologies if you already knew this.. and it still doesn't help your situation of trying to get both milk and meat, since when you /harvest milk on the corpse it's empty of all other resources.

Unfortunately this happens a lot on Dantooine. I think most people aren't paying attention and just want to kill everything they see as fast as possible, and aren't trying to grief you or be jerks. Those types will usually stop if they notice it's your mission, but there's always the exception who don't care or do it on purpose.

I wasn't so mad that the guy attacked my lair as I was that he threatened to report me for kill stealing to a csr. Mistakes happen, and when people own up to it that's cool no harm no foul. When they threaten to report me for killing a lair I took a mission for that's different.
