Last night I was on Tatooine lookingfor the fabledKrayt Dragon. After a little while I stumbled into an area with one red dot..... I check it out, and sure as the sun rises in the east, it was a Canyon Krayt Dragon. I engaged him, and barely scratched him, so I got out of there. Immediately I started sending out messages. I got a couple of replies, and sent out the coords. As I watched the dragon, I observed him taking on all the NPC' in the area. It was kind of amusing to watch these little jawas pounding on the dragon, while the dragon ignored them cause it was to busy with some poor critter I could not see. Finally a doc shows up to help take on the dragon. I eat all my foods and drink my drinks. Charged in and did a little damage, lost a lot of mind, and fled towards some NPCs. The dragon does not take the bait, and turns on my doc. The doc dies and I am safe. The doc laughed about this and asked me to keep an eye on the dragon, which I did. Suddenly, this huge beast vanishes..... I run an 800m circle, tracking like I have never tracked before. No trace!! I expanded my search to no avail. All that time I spent in search of and fighting the beast wasted!! Does anyone clue as to why he would vanish like that?

Some spawns seem to be on a timer, of some sort, and will puff out of existence if they're not taking damage or you're just tickling it.
Either that or it did a HUGE warp and some poor soul in Mos Entha woke up to find themselves sharing a room with a REALLY big leezard.

I've had the same thing happen with rancors. It might be related to the bug that Tiggs is looking for info on where mobs warp away once their HAM gets low. Although it sounds a bit different in your case. Usually they warp within a few hundred meters, but I've had rancors disappear completely (or at least seem to) as you described.

Well - only because you asked.
You offended said dragon with your ineffective attacks and general fun making of the Jawa. The Jawa were not attacking, they were picking nits and lice off the dragon hide. The dragon, being kindly, makes then go away - would you want to live like Jawas??
Second, you had a doctor. Krayts hate doctors - proctologists especially. As large as the dragon is, you can imagine how the docs check the prostate on dragons (hint - involves a hazmat suit)
Finally - Krayts exist for one reason, and one reason only. They love to piss Rangers off. If they can, they will. 25 people attacking, who gets ate first - Ranger. Ranger using areatrack, they go invisible. Ranger on the planet, they go on a lunch break.
These are secrets you must not share with the general public either.

I just wanted to say thanks for the enlightening information!
I definately would hate to wake up sleeping with a dragon(but haven't we all woken up with some sort of dragon at one point or another?).
I was begining to wonder if the Krayts did not likeme or something, but glad to hear that its all rangers. Guess we need to /mask scent to be tasty enough to eat.
And those poor Jawas! Having such a miserable job.... Thanks for the cleaning, how bout lunch? Ouch!
And next time I go hunt Krayts I will leave the feather duster and the proctologist at home!
He he! Again, thank you for the the education!
P.S. We need to talk to the union about those extended coffee breaks the big lizards take!
