I am thinking about becoming a ranger. I am a creature handler and the idea of having tracking to help me find lairs is appelling to me. Does this function work very well? Is it work getting novice ranger just for this?
Thanks!

Yes, tracking is the only real skill I use with frenquent success. It still needs to be tweaked and polished, but the bottom line is that it does work.

My friend and I have been talking about re-rolling. We were both thinking swordsmen, with one going doc the other ranger. Mainly we are interested in night sisters and krayts. The big question is, does tracking work well? I’ve been reading lots of posts and it seems ranger is about as neglected as smuggler (my other character’s profession, am I doubly screwed?)
Any thoughts from the ranger elders would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Aeneas

Yes it works.... as for tracking kryat, be patient they don't always exist. I was in a group and we spent 30 min using area track covering 2K x2K area arround the kryat grace yard and got nothing. We dropped camp and started taking about what to do now, and for the fun of it I tried to area track again, and tehre was 3 withing 100m.
you will have better luck with night sisters, because they are a lot more common.
FYI is you have enough faction points in either Nightsisters or singing mountain clan they will heal you... This scared me the first time.
I was at the nightsisters vs clan area and made it a point to only pick on 1 side, did this several times and had over 2K of FP, and in a mid battle a Night sister priestess (or whatever) broke off a battle to run over to me, then gave me the same as a Stim D in healing.
you might want to be a litle carefull when picking a fight on dothmir, having local friends can be fun.

Just remember, you can only track what is within 500m of you. Even then, things occasionally don't show up around the 200m or so range for some reason. For example, if you track a herd of creatures around 450m to the south, then run south and track again, those creatures might not show up in the track list even though you're sure it said they were to the south. Keep heading south and all of a sudden you'll run into them.
Otherwise, yes it's our most useful skill besides harvesting.
