I was just taking part in a debate about the combat revamp over on my server's forum. In that debate I spoke of how paying customers should make their voices heard, especially in the face of developer "la la la la can't hear you"-ness. As an example I spoke of the process we are involved in creating a document for how we'd like our profession to go, and here is the response I got...

Really DaveG, thats all well and good, but will that really do anything to make this happen? Sure the devs will take on comments and suggestions but nothing we do really makes a difference. The devs have a plan for this game, and will stick to it. Its not a matter of pride, its a matter of realising they run a business, and all large business' have plans, which they follow through.

You rangers might be making this document, which is great for some community feed-back and indication of what the community wants, and who knows some of it may be incoparated, but it will not be the driving force behind any revamp that comes up. But basically the devs won't do anything that hasn't been thought out, they've learned their lessons from the past and have said they're not rushing into anything.

Also i pay my subscription fee to play this game, not to become a little protester about my chosen prof. I support community/dev interaction and feed back, hell i think the whole approach the devs are taking to the CU is a great one (thats getting the players in from the begining) but having seen the success, or lack there of, of the petitions that are floating about of getting what the petition wants i really don't see the point.

But i do support giving the devs what the community thinks wants, all i'm saying is that doesn't really effect anything.

I found this really disappointing to read at how someone could be so passive in the face of everything.

We're going to prove him/her wrong aren't we people!

I didn't use buffs or uber armour, so why did the combat revamp have to spoil my game?

To my knowledge SWG is the first MMORPG to have created a Correspondant Program. It's definitely the first to have held a Corr - Retreat.

I believe whole heartedly that with Owen's leadership we can make some more firsts.

The way I see it, with a community that is so vocal and so dedicated to their profession, the Devs have alot more people sitting in on all the Ranger Revamp discussions than there are chairs.

We know where this profession has been heading and should end up and I think the Devs can hear us.

When the Ranger Revamp Document is done and in the Dev's capable hands there is surely a great future for the Ranger Profession we all so dearly love.

The devs have actually been very vocal with us. A lot of what you percieve as their ignoring us is deeper. Every change to this game effects more then just that simple thing. As well it might effect some plan later on that hasnt been announced. Or its just not easy to put in like our ranger changes

The player petitions havent made a difference. And to me its always been the cries of one person feeling they are better then the rest of us. I've hated the petition threads since they started on the forums.
