Thread: Returning Ranger
That was a bug in P-darts that has since been fixed.
P-Darts were never supposed to stop anything in its tracks. The bug was the AI would turn off.
Yep, they took away our most powerful weapon. Welcome back though!

don't worry, there are still a lot of exploits for you to find.
They fixed something that was BROKEN. This is a good thing. Stopping a Krayt in it's track was a bug that many people used to kill things that they wouldn't ordinarily be able to. If your tactics are such that you stood in place while throwing your darts and expected not to get bitten....well then, you deserved the trip to the cloner. Now, you can still solo a Krayt using P-Darts, but it takes some skill. Do a search for "Guide to Big Critter Hunting". I put together a little guide on how to kill big stuff. Standing in place is NOT one of the tactics I recommend.
You're telling me you honestly throught that being 100% invulnerable to creatures was a "feature"? That having a way to make a creature stop in it's tracks and never move forward was a part of the game? Didn't the icon showing you that the effect of the trap had worn off give you any clue?
Well, if you honestly made a mistake, okay. But we had a LOT of people come here and use that exploit. I guess what ticked me off is that you said "the only reason I went Ranger was for this". That to me is just insulting to our community, that the only thing that made you go Ranger was something that was never intended, and an exploit of the system. If they only reason you came here was to have a god mode against creatures, that tells me a lot.
So yeah, they fixed it and you can't just stand there and expect to win any more. Again, if you'd like to learn how to hunt without standing in place, I wrote a guide to hunting big game. Everybody is welcome here on the Ranger forum, but exploits are bad for the game, and anything that gives you a god mode will always be an exploit. Besides...was it ever really that fun to kill stuff with the broken traps. I could've gone and cooked dinner, come back and still beaten the Krays under that system. There's not risk there, it's not very rewarding. It's like dropping a grenade in a fishtank and being proud of that kill.
Yes, I honestly thought it was a feature. I thought the advantage balanced with the fact that the traps did not always work. That even when they did work, sometimes it would inexplicably stop working, and you would die. And when it worked perfectly, you could still have the kill stolen from you. The Fact that trapping was a very hard tree to complete, TWICE, made me think maybe this was an inherent advantage. Yes, thats why I thought it was performing as it should be, and not as an exploit. Fine, as I have said I WAS WRONG. It was a feature that I thought MADE IT WORTHWHILE, and one of the reasons I liked being a ranger.
Also, I misspoke, I didnt even know about it before I reached master ranger, I was trying to gain exp from stacking different traps, so I never used a P-dart twice in a row until far later. But when I found what they did, well, IM SORRY for thinking it was performing how it was supposed to. Now it’s gone, Im sad, but I understand. Now please STOP projecting your assumptions, annoyance, and condescension from perceived attacksagainst the community on me. Take your pent up vitriol and bitterness, and go flame somebody else.
