Im not convinced that concealment is wortwhile in PvP at all. You mention that it could be used to get a person into position for the perfect shot and open fire. But combat in SWG doesnt take position into consideration. Combat is all random numbers, variables and statistics. It doesnt matter if I'm 60 metres away perched on a roof top or Im 60 metres away standing in the middle of the street using a /flail macro. It's still range, accuracy and tohit percentages.

The only possible reason I can see for using concealment is in a "ganking" sense. Someone comes along, sees only one person with a Novice Scout tag on and so attacks, only to realise there are a dozen other enemy that just appeared combatant.

I still havent seen any idea that sways me to the "Rangers should have invisibility in PvP" movement.

Getting melee fighters to point blank range before they can be attacked, or the CM waiting until most possible enemies are with in the AoE of thair poison/decise, or a commando possessing him self to hit most possible people with his flame cone could be very useful.

EG: The Tanks runs in to the fray and hit the enemy doc with a KD/dizy combo, thus opening them self up to attack. This get the enemy melee forces on thair backs. However, that also concentrate them for the CM to hit them all with his best poison.
By now the range fighters of the enemy have run a bit away to get better accuracy, but the range fighters of the attacking force opens up on thair counter parts puling thair fire away from the tanks.
With am all out war the commando enters the fray, opening up with his flame thrower in to the melee fray.
With the enemy doctor on his back desperately trying to get up to start healing, the decides written, poised, and burning enemy melee fighters do not last long. And nether do the enemy doc, but most of the attacking tanks do fall in the process.
This is where the doctor from the attackers come in. having waited until his counter par fell, he starts raising his own death, and the tanks sets off after the enemy range fighters who are now scattering.

Yes it is highly dramatised. No it could not happen in the current combat system, but that is suppose to change in the CU right?

A lot of Rangers already use the tracking ability to see how many enemy forces are in the area. Imagine being able to sneak in, target individual players and find out what professions they are, and be able to send detailed information on who to attack first. Imaine your squad not having to wait for a doctor to heal, but killing the two guys who have Master Doctor in their bio first, because you sent their names back.

Having stealth won't make you uber in PvP by yourself, but it DOES give you a lot of options in both PvE and in large-scale PvP.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Rangers suck at PvP.

Do some math, and you will see we will totally suck in PvP further on down the road.

Solution, don't PvP if you are a Ranger, unless you like to shoot and kite. Do recon and be happy with that. Lead aggros into the bad guys who you located using /ar.

Participate in PvP - you will die a quick pain filled death.

Honest, the Devs said we are combat support. Y'all know I totally disagree, but the Devs are more stubborn than I am even. I am working on a plan to spike their Pepsi with some testosterone tho. Maybe then they'll listen.

I suck in PvP heheh. My win-loss ratio is horrible. Me being a non-mind attack profession (Pikeman) and I'm not a DOT whore, makes it worse.

Another dead horse dug up, been discussed over and over. Let the dead rest in peace please.

One obvious way of doing it would be to turn us invisible, but the devs had once said there would be no invisibility in SWG.

So I thought how else could we gain a large advantage from our concealment in PvP.

One way would be to make it first strike ability. We still get a TEF if we enter faction combat, but it just prevents us from entering houses. And there is currently code in the game to prevent one player from attacking another (your own side, neutrals, non special force).
So I thought what if a special forces player, that had concealment applied to them, appeared as combatant until the camouflage was broken or the player attacked. They could move in and even if they were spotted they would net be seen as an immediate threat.
They could then move to the perfect possession and open fire. Of cause, enemy Special Forces players should have a chance to break the camouflage (but sign of any kind if they did not).

/ar'ing the opposing members may be a fine tactic as support. I, however, find this to be null. Most PVP'ers worth their salt will have their searchable option shut off. If this is the case, they won't come up on areatrack. I learned the hard way. And I agree withi the scout correspondent. The +10 to defenses at master isn't crap. As a tkm/ranger, I NEVER won a fight in pvp. I was always owned so damned fast it wasn't even worth doing it.
