Hey guys, just wanted to give you an update on what i have planned if we can get the numbers.

The GRM will become a series of events. Basically you log in for a few hours and participate in mass hunts, the Great Ranger Games and hang out with like minded people from the boards and game

The GRM is basically is going to consist of the GRM Events and the GRG (Great Ranger Games). Anyone is entitled to participate and you dont need to be ranger, just have a scout orientation.

The ranger lodge will be the focus of the GRM and be used to coordinate, gather and hold the sub events. Before i go into details of thesesub-events though ill give you some info on what other aspects are planned for the GRMs of the future.

The GRM Score Board:

Yes there will be competions and teams, and these teams will be able to gather points related to their performances and impact on their possition in the league. More on this later but expect a leader board in the lodge.

The Hall Of Heros:

This area is like a GRM trophy room. The winners of each GRM get their team represented in this hall for all eternity and there will also be areas for highest ever score etc. Think of this as an area where the winners can be rewarded with a place in the hall not many people get.

The Ranger Kit:

Every member is entitled to a ranger kit. This kit consists of ranger gear including a GRM uniform (to be discussed once i have to prototypes back), cupa mount andcdef of death (once i can get my hands on them). You will also recieve a team clothing item (most proably a coloured jacked or hat) that will set you and your team apart from the rest of the teams. If you preferto wear something better in the field then imfine with that but i would like all to wear the team item when participating in the games and the uniform at the start of the event (for pictures sake hehe).

Free Ranger/Scout Training:

From me or any of the TC guys. We will be happy to help in your training and possibly in your weapons training also.

The GRM Events:

The Great Meetup:

Rangers form all over the galaxies load up and head to Skystone, to the ranger lodge. When they are here they will be kitted out with complementory ranger kit and split into teams based on dice roles. Think of this part of the event as a staging time where we prepare what we are going to do.

Mass Hunt:

Exactly what it means. The event starts of witha huge hunt. Every ranger there going out, no armour, either none or partial buffs and kicking ass ranger style on adventure planets. The pruposeis to have fun, get a little cred behind you so you can travel come group events and gain a few skills.

The GRGEvents:

Group Hunt:

After meeting up back at the lodge, the teams are formed. Objectives set and the teams all head out at the same time in their mini groups to complete the objectives. Some of these may be to get as much leather hide from a planet as possible in 45 minutes. Although the objectives will change by each meet the concept will stay the same, this being gathering as much as possible as a group. Points are allocated by rankings at the end of the hunt (1st place will get x points, 2nd y points etc)

Wheres Wouldzey:

I posta map with a highlighted 'zone' where ill be walking around in. The idea is that the teams line up and are let go all at the same time and the first one to come place a camp around me wins. Basically a points bonus round

Fishing Competition:

The teams have15 minutes to fish there butts off with points going for fish size and number of (unfilleted) fish submitted. Again a group effort and lots of points to be won. This is meant as a sort of cool off before the biggest event of the evening. All fish submitted must be unfilleted in order to prove they are from this shift (the fish meat name must match this shift).

The Great Scavenger Hunt:

Groups of rangers, a list of 20 objectives, a galaxy of danger and hazzard, 1 deadline to meet, lots of fun to be had. Basically this involves the groups planning how they want to aproach the list and what areas they want to focus on. The list will change each month but will focus on scouts and rangers using their skills to find the things they need.Expect gathering, exploring, traveling and hunting tasks. Points are allocated per objective met so be careful what objects you go after as they may not be the best points vs time wise. The higher risk ones will command a higher points prize and every team can complete each objective if they desire (its not just first to finish one gets the points).

Closing comments:

The focus of the events are to create a group feeling and a fun atmosphere to play in. Its not about what skills you have, but how resourcefull you are and how well you work as a team. Im sure winning teams will let it known all over the ranger forums of their triumphs and the contenders will surely let them known their glory will not last

I have no eta on when this will be ready but im starting work on it now and any help in gathering resources would be a great help. Expect fun and posts in the coming weeks regarding choices of uniform and event details/teams etc.

Ok what do you guys think?

As I sit, bored to tears as I have to re-download all of the freaking TC patches (thank God for cable or I would be older and grayer when that got done)... woohooo

I am re-rolling a noob character, Scout and who knows? Medic prolly. The combat prof has not yet been decided (No kids, not BH). The noob part is more to check out the changes from that end of the spectrum.

I was gonna be a Rodent...uh...Rodian just to mess with Phenix. We shall see.

This sounds like fun.

JB, if you don't want to be a rodian, that's fine, because i'll be there representing Rodia.

I think tonight i'll take a break from leveling Pistoleer, and create a Test Center toon.

Owen, what name do you use on TestCenter, so that I can get in touch with you when I get there so I can start gathering organics for you.

Most likely my toon's name will be Oreet or Teero. Plus, i'm JTL enabled, with a Yacht, so if we need a mass transit system, just talk to me.

I think this is a FANTASTIC idea. I like the organization of it. Good diversity in events and good use of rangers skills.

As a comment though, the events are very ranger specific (most need tracking or good harvesting skills). Therefore, newb characters are at a distinct disadvantage. There's no real way around this since you don't want to bring the event to the lowest common denomenator. To counteract this then... what server will this be on? I for one would like to go to this server and start a new character ASAP. This will be a boon for the ranger community on the hosting server, but I think that's more than fair compensation for the time, effort, and credits that are being put towards the event(s). Drop a server name NOW and I'm on it like fat kid on a smartie.

Cryos, it's on TC...

BTW, perhaps some of us established Rangers would voulunteer to each be on a team to spread our skills out. I have a MR, Owen has one, Fred has a Ranger, Paks has a Ranger (I think), lammergier (sp?) has a Ranger, I think. Some of y'all could probably get to Ranger in no time; there are a lot of us that have at least a start on TC, so we should be able to split up nicely.

BTW, The people I have mentioned are in no way obligated to participate.I was just brainstorming.

Thanks for the info Calc. I'll get a TC toon up and running soon. I have other Naritus stuff on my plate right now though.
So much to do, so little time.

What do you guys think to rules?

Should we all have scout skills only? This would prevent the games getting too elitest (as in regular members become too powerfull team members).

Should each event we all drop down to scouts or do you think everyone starting from noob each GRM woud be worth it?

Or shall we just leave it up to each other for our skills? Like if someone new wants to get a jump start, they can just log on and start leveling a noob scout up in no time? Id glady help anyone who wishes to do that.

Oh and the server is TC server.

Yeah splitting up the teams is a good idea. Eventually it will get to the stage where we all are MR or thereabouts so wont matter, but in the beggining perhaps teams who want to level their members up should be able to do so.

I am partial to any skills go (hell, someone may even decide to be a stacker to take down the critters nore quickly and depend on his teammates to do the harvesting).

You can tailor your team to fit what you think is the best hunting group .

I don't think you should penalise those who are MR, just as you shouldn't penalise those who are not. Easiest way to deal with it is two things:

  1. Ensure teams are as even as possible and that skills are spread out evenly

  2. Ensure that even novice scouts can contribute (positively) towards their team's vicotry - e.g. Not everyone in the group needs to be tracking... non-rangers can be running around trying to help thing spawn and what not. Therefore, tracking events are still ok. Same with harvesting... 5 MR + one novice scout on a team will harvest more than a team made up of 5 MR with no 6th member!

I think the events as they are are all inclusive. Therefore, it is the first element above that should be monitored.
