I havent reallys een this discussed but with the announcment of how the combat skills/skill points will be rebalanced, it made it possible for a Ranger/Rifleman to pickup BH as a 2nd combat profession.
I rans some comparisons of skill point costs and saw that since Rifleman will be requiring 4/0/0/4 Rifleman, AND the reduced SP cost of BH, it makes a Ranger able to branch into BH territory.
A potential Ranger/Rifleman/BH template could be as such after the CU
Master Rifleman
Marksman 4/0/0/4
Ranger 4/4/4/0
BH 3/0/0/0
This poetential template would really beef up the ranged defense, and would give the Ranger/BH unprecedented tracking capability, not to mention grant the Ranger a Heavy Weapons certification (Light Lightning Cannon)
Of course this DOES sacrafice Master Ranger & the entire trapping line, but lets face it we dont get much reward from trapping anyway (maybe when Ranger gets revamped I'll consider picking it up again), and it gives up the ability to make Dathomir camo and the MR harvesting bonus.
BUT it could potentially let the Ranger in on the Jedi hunting game (since Investigation III is what ya need to get jedi missions), and tracking players is fun. (the Ranger/BH combo is one who will know where everyone is hehe)
A Ranger/BH/Master Rifleman has the potential of being a damn good paddy population control machine (even now I find it pretty easy to sneak up on paddies in the wild, as I like to camo, mingle with the creatures near the paddies grinding spot and let him pick up some visibility while he thrashes around w/ his noob saber.
This could be real interesting come CU time. Hopefully this potential template will make it live with the CU

Okay. Why? Ranger and BH, besides some Scout skills, have nothing in common. One hunts animals, the other hunts people. I mean, I only see this combo as a template to be used by those looking to get an edge and using Ranger, as always, to get that edge. This is also why I've always been a big fan of Jedi hunting being a Master BH ability.

well, those BH terminal missions pay pretty good for going out and shooting ONE poxy NPC. I tried a combo like this for a little while and, depending on how you play it, it can be fun.
If, otoh, you view all professions as 'all or nothing' then yeah, it works out as both a broken BH and a broken Ranger.
You said "Ranger and BH, besides some Scout skills, have nothing in common. One hunts animals, the other hunts people." and totally ignored the fact that what they have in common is that they hunt. I don't particularly mind if what am being paid to take down goes on two legs, four legs, flies, swims or supports itself by magical levitation. If I get paid for making it dead, that's good for me

BH skills?
Who cares about them. Get me Medic with the ability to heal myself.
BH, yeah, I want to drop my IQ score 50 points and get that profession.

well, that's good to hear from at least one Ranger. I was beginning to think that Rangers had altogether turned their backs on helping Jedi.

Wow now you got me thinking. I actually like this. However I don't know that I would go up the investigation tree personally. The reason I say that is I have a couple of "decent" (I think I don't know for sure) LLC's from my first two months of SWG when I wanted to become a BH. I never got rid of them in case I ever wanted to pick it up again I didn't have to go looking for weaps. So instead maybe I'd go up the tree with the LLC specials. The only potential flaw I see with my thinking is that we don't know really what effect the CU is going to have on our current weapons and how they affect creatures. Anyway, just throwing some random thoughts out there. Personally I have no desire to hunt Jedi, that is for someone else.
