What would the best race to be a ranger / rifleman? Also what about the skill point allotment? I seemed to have messed up my Zabrak pretty bad: no mind pool got an email telling me I was too high in some places. So what would the ideal ranger be?

Race wise, the only one that offers any bit of a bonus to something you'll need as a Ranger/Rifleman is Bothan, who get a bonus to mask scent and conceal (they will - trust me).

The email you got was a bug - it's been rolled back. Don't worry about it.

As a rifleman, migrate your stats so that your mind is higher than the other two bars. You'll need lots of mind for your specials.

Go human if you want to join the Imperial army. No race penalties on faction perks

I think Bothans get a bonus to cover or taking cover. This is a Rifleman skill. so yeah Bothan looks like the way to go.

You can migrate your stats. Id think zabrak is a good choice due to high willpower.

I personally like Zabrak, because of the high willpower (fast mind regeneration), and the two innate specials:

Equilibrium: Lets you instantly evenly distribute all damage between all 3 pools (so if your mind is empty, and the other two are full, you can instantly regenerate most of it).

Vitalize: Gives a temporary small boost to all 3 stat pools. This is in addition to any buffs from doctors, food, or entertainers.

Both of these have a 1 hour cooldown (to keep them from being abused) but I find them both VERY useful.

Let's not forget the Wookiees. You get a bonus to both trapping and rescue, and all of their stats have very nice boosts to them.

When you migrate your stats, you can get a max boost to your mind stats as 1100/650/600 (at least that's what mine is now )

Equilibrium has saved my butt countless times. It's an excellent tool for PvP too. People focusing on one HAM pool will get a nice surprise.
