I've been working on going ranger and just got to novice. Some people have said you cant make money but I had a awsome idea to change that.

My plan is to open a ranger resouces store. Alot of people will come to this kind store such as all medic skills, Bio's, and even rangers and scouts because not every one like's to craft stuff or the people that get novice scout that want to get camps can just buy them.

I will be opening my store some time from now (It takes awhile to get all the resources to have a good opening) on corbantis! so for all you rangers and scouts who dont like to craft stuff or medics who need resources, drop on by.

i'll post the waypoint and all that stuff on the corbantis forms once the store is ready.

hope this idea helped you rangers get some ideas.

"Some people have said you cant make money"

Well I guess it depends entirely on how much money a player actually requires.

  • Personally, since my expenses are virtually nothing the 40k / week or so I make selling harvested resources on the bazaar suits me just fine.

Now, since I am a casual gamer and only play around 20 hours a week... 40k is more than enough to sate my demands.

  • Gracious... Most of it goes into the bank. I have 350k in there already.

----

Anyways... Cool idea regarding the store, I hope it works out for you.

  • Good choice Corbantis. I might just pop in and check it out once you are up and running.

I am sorry, a Ranger who "can't" make money is -

A. Not trying

B. Stoopid enough to have to be reminded to breath

C. Both of the above

I harvest what I kill, it's a habit. I set up macros to do it, creature is dead, hit one key or the other and harvest is done. More than once I have come back from an XP trip with a boatload of hide/meat/bone that I can easily sell, and no real idea of where it all came from. Even selling on the bazaar for 3cpu makes a decent cash flow.

The second way to make money - run missions with people. Ran a few of them on Dathomir last night, now am 25k and a load of hides richer. 4 person group, with pets, and the bola population went down a wee bit.

Finally, hire yourself out. Why was I on Dathomir? I was hired to find graul maulers. Except we got sidetracked killing other stuff, ended up running the missions, and a good time was had by us. I even leveled in Pistoleer.

Well, nuff said, off to count my riches (lol, roughly 450k, but I have to service my harvestors... oh yeah, sell metal too), get trained and most importantly, get my HA back home and cloned. I really really hate Dath.

I opened up a store for the resources that I had acquired too.

I closed after 2 weeks when I realized that I couldn't keep it stocked enough to actually matter. Through the bizarre and through personal buyers that I new, I could (in any possible way) stockpile and resources. They were literally being bought as I harvested them.

Now I use that building as a home/warehouse for the "junk resources" that I don't try to sell (use them for camps, etc.) and for the extra traps, metal, weapons, gear, that I don't need on me all the time. The sign on the house simply say to send a mail or /tell message to me if anything is needed.

Hey, if it helps you then congrats.

But I think your time would be better spent making contacts than hopingthat, by chance, someone walks by you establishment.

I plan to open such a store that will offer all sorts of items needed by rangers/scouts. However i'm concerned about the ability to make significant profits from such a store and as such this WON'T be my main source of income. My main source of income should shortly be coming from harvesters...

And yes i agree with Jbmatt: Rangers who can't make money are not trying hard enough or mentally challenged.

I too briefly opened a shop, but you're much better off just finding either a rich armorsmith or doctor and working solely for them. If a crafter sees nice stuff on your vendor, they will clean you out instantly, leaving your vendor empty and your store deserted.

i just cant see this,

to be honest i think ranger has to be the most profitable profession in the game.

I have never lied, cheated or exploited yet my personal wealth stands at about 1.8million (and i have a large naboo house)

The key is get to know people, see what they want, and more importanlty only deal in high quality stuff, it may be hard on some servers but if its good quality only sell it for what it is worth. Never ever sell if for next to nothing, if they dont want to pay that, then say "good day to you sir" and be off. They will always come back, having said that though, dont sell it to expensive either.

When people realise the benefit of high quality resources they will come back again and again and buy at a very good price if you get them what they want.

A Ranger is one of the most profitable class' in SWG.

If you dont have over 100k Credits, you are most likely a failure as a Ranger OR a very giving one

I personally have over 5 Million Credits, from tracking and selling my rare drops Iget for my services.

My PA thought of opening outpost around the galaxy, basically a place that many rangers can sell goods. We are new and only have 7 members so I will post back at tell you how it went in a few weeks.

The problem with selling ranger goods. Typically, only rangers can use them. Let's take a look at this. The camps (FBs), sure they take a ton of resources, but we're rangers that what we do. Even if you had to spend 3K at some point for 1000units of metal, that will last forever. I had 500 units of steel that I have been using for 4 weeks...I still have over 100 left and I am not done with the camping tree. The traps, who wants them...the scout traps are superior. camo kits? Sure those are great, but getting rangers to come to your shop to pick them up might be tough.

I'm on Naboo and want to go to Rori to hunt. Am I going to go to Corellia first to buy camo kits...probably not, considering that after I kill a few creatures I can make my own in camp when I bust out my R5 droid with crafting station to increase the charges.

Good luck to you, but honestly. I make plenty of scratch mining. I have now come to the point that I am surrendering my surveying skills and I have some good people working for me. I developed the customer base, they come to me, I tell my people what I need. I pay them for their services and deliver the goods to my customer at a markup. I spend my time exploring, hunting and doing fun stuff. It took time and dedication to get to this point, but it was worth it and I have plenty of money.

To my bretheren that think Rangering is the most lucrative class, I would beg to differ. You may want to ask what your neighborhood weapon or armorsmith has in the bank. Far more than this ranger to be sure.

I make a killing off doctors. Master docs are usually are rich (from buffing I presume) and will pay a good price for avian and herb. I sell from 17 to 30 cpu and I only hunt safe planets unless there is no good quality but there usually is. I think I have made 400k in just the last week and a half off of doctors I now have over 1 million credits and all the gadgets/toys I could want and I don't think I will ever spend it all unless a future expansion pack empties my wallet lol

You can also make some real easy cash harvesting meat in the fast spawn areas around starter cities. Make a macro (/harvest meat) and put it in one of your f keys. Find a good spawn, I like mos entha, and run around killing everything. You will have a couple thousand units before you know it. Then, use your player search and look for novice a novice BE. They need the meat to grind and they need alot of it.

Just don't sell it for 3cpu. That hurts us all. My sucess is large stacks. When you show a large stack to a potential buyer, they will almost alway chace you down after they say no Its funny to me because I know they want it, they know they want it, they haggle, I stand firm, they say "Price too high", I say "thanks anyways" and run off, before I know it they say "WAIT" lol Large stacks are worth alot more to docs than picking up small ones here and there. They will pay...

Oh yeah, I sell junk meat to BEs for 6cpu most of the time.
