Thread: Maxxed skill xp has anyone tried it yet?
In another post NRaas mentioned that when you surrender a box, say Wayfaring IV for example, your scout xp cap would reset to a lower level. The next time you harvest and gain scout xp, you will actually LOSE scout xp if you have more than the new cap.
However, I have a question. Is the trigger to drop your xp to the lower cap based on gaining xp, or is it based on harvesting? A Master Ranger with maxxed scout xp cannot gain xp ever again, so the next time s/he harvests after giving up a box s/he would not gain xp. Therefore s/he would not loose any either.Does this make sense? Has anyone tested this? I have already maxxed my scout xp at Wayfaring IV, so I'll test it myself tonight, if no one has already done so.
This would make it, well, not easy, but viable to give up Master level skills and try some other profession for a time, because when you came back your xp would be waiting for you. I hate to think of maxxing my survival xp though (shudder).

"However, I have a question. Is the trigger to drop your xp to the lower cap based on gaining xp, or is it based on harvesting?"
Good question.
Consider the following though:
- Ifa playerhave capped in experience, then the player will not be receiving anymore
- So in order for the loss of experience effect to occur, it must occur even if a player can not gain any more exp
- Hence the loss of experience is tied to the action that would have normally produced experience.
So by this, I suspect the drop in exp is based on the /harvest action... And not the gain in experience.

I have noticed the loss of experience myself when I gave up my Surveying skill...
- Though I don't know when the experience I has accrued actually reset itself.

I surrender Ranger totally, to become a hairdresser (ok, laff dammit, it was a funny). The very next creature I harvest, using my scout skills, will lower my scout xp to the max that a Master Scout can have. Don't have the numbers in front of me, but they are big.
Same deal for any skill you had, then surrender.
Surrender one box of Frontiering, the next camp you do will drop you to the max XP for the previous level, then give you XP for the camp you just did. In essence, you lost a skill and then are gaining it back, if that makes sense.
It has worked that way outside of this profession. I was a master marksman, dropped it, and lost a load of xp in rifle and carbine. Kept the ranged xp (combat xp actually), only because Pistoleer used it to the levels I had.
Hope that made sense.

Thanks NRaas! Thanks JB!
