or humans would do well too? Is the extra camouflage and cover points worth it?

Well, as a Bothan Master Ranger, here is what I think. The cover points don't really matter as they are for a rifleman skill. I'm not sure how much the camo skill mod affects the camoflage effectiveness but it will give you an extra experimentation point as you climb the tree (I have yet to find good enough materials to let me use all my points while crafting camo at master). The extra point would let you get a little more use out of your kits, which canbe helpful. I know that I have yet to be detected while wearing camo with a +115 camo skill mod. I would guess the same is true at +100 but I don't know. Although I have yet to use camo on any really big mobs. Stormtroopers and such are probably the highest CL mobs I've had it work on. If you are creating a new character, I see nothing wrong with going as a Bothan (unless you want to be an imperial) but a Human will do fine.

If you want a little bonus it is an okay choice, but don't let it influence you too much.

You can buy a shirt, pants and a jacket with roughly +15 maskscent/camo from a Tailor that uses Bio-Engineered tissues. (Incidently, the pants and jacket can take the injury treatment tissue at the same time.)

Even with a +39 to my maskscent, diseased vrelts and howling plumed rasps still break my maskscent once or twice in a 3.5 km trek. I surrendered Wayfaring because aggressive NPCs that I have poor faction with often ignore conceal entirely. Once that bug is gone the bonus would be okay, but only a third as much as what I get from my clothes.

My recommendation: go with the species you like the look of the most. The bonuses are small perks, but nothing that will make a huge difference most of the time, and the human's higher stats can be a big benefit.
