Ranger Archive

First, I am not against PAs, they are wonderful. But anyone can join one and wear the title. However, having said that -

Antarian Ranger should be an earned title, not something you can get by simply joining the right club. This is analagous to joining the military, you do not get a special title just by buying the badge, you gotta earn it.

I propose that Antarian Ranger be a title that a Master Ranger can earn by also becoming a Master in any combat skill - ranged or melee. Reading about them, the Antarian Rangers were combat and woodscraft experts, so they should be here also. It would have to be a second Elite title, as in Pistoleer or TK Master. The first master level, like Master Marksman, would not cut it any more than being a Master Scout would let you earn the title. You would be a true elite-elite, and should be recognized as such.

Yes, it would limit whatever else you could become, due to the skill point limitations.Elite/Elite tends to do that.

No, you would not be "uber" in combat, but you would have above average combat skills, and way above average hunting and recon skills.

Yes, the PAs still could use the title, that's fine... the title under your name would change, and it would be cool to see an Antarian Ranger in a PA of the same name.

Ok, Rangers, what do y'all think. NRass can monitor this thread if it gets long enough and possibly request it if enough of y'all think it's a good idea.

If not, oh well, can only fault me for having an idea, and they are rare enough so back off...lol.

Meh, sounds like a great elite-elite class to me.

I also read that Antarian Rangers weren't necessarily Military/Fighting alone. many were succesfull businessman, spies.. etc.. Able to provide Jedi with whatever they needed. So I guess an Antarian Ranger could be a Master Ranger with ANY Elite Profession. Either way, so long as the individual is willing to commit to MAstering Ranger and to Mastering another Elite they should be entitled to be an Antarian Ranger.

I like the idea but there would be a major role playing problem with it. Truly, an Imp cannot be an Antarian Ranger! Antarian Rangers assist the Jedi and the Empire was trying to wipe them into extinction along with the Jedi. Therefore an imp Carrying the title would be.... wrong. So although I like the idea and have considered it myself I dont know if it should be implemented.
