I am a Master Ranger / Rifleman

I have been hunting around the Gurk Lair for 4 days now......

I have killed 9 kings with no Hide drop yet.

Here's what happened to me:

After the 9th king I decided to drop a camp and craft some stuff and heal etc. after a while I tracked the area and noticed another King had spawned......

I dropped a Fishak surprise and prepared to go to work, at that moment a TKM rushed past me and immediately laid waste to the Gurk King, (even if i'd attacked it too I wouldn't have done enough damage in that space of time for looting rights).

And he also dropped the other Gurks in the area after the King(there were surprisingly few, maybe 3 or 4).......He then proceeded to loot the King and suddenly shout "WOOT got me a King Hide" and ran off......

I literally felt like crying into my keyboard, I'd camped that place for days and got nothing!!!!!!

The point of my story is......Can we rangers PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, when we reach Master, get a better chance at turning up rare loot than anyone else?

That way things like this may be avoided, and people may hire us for something other than tracking

My problem is with people camping the spawns (sorry spoff). I haven't been to any dungeon or known spawn area (krayt graveyard) in MONTHS! Every time I have tried to hunt at any of these places, they are camped. I just want to take out the critters, I don't want the loot, but I can't even get the joy of the hunt. The good news is, this has forced me to hunt on Endor which has turned me on to good place to hunt.

Beleive me, I'm not a camper by nature, I just need 1 Gurk hide for an armoursmith friend.

After that I probably won't go back there until someone asks me to get another one.

I've never really understood the reasoning behind static spawns like with krayts, gurks, etc.

I think if they made them more random, and increased the loot chance since they'd be harder to find, it would make hunts more fun, and make it more of a "hunt" feeling rather than just camping the spawns.

Campers...ewwwwwwwwww. I love running past them into caves, and laying waste to what's inside, all the while their whines are music to my ears. Most likely, he got squat, just had to make himself seems so cool (least in his own mind).

They have to make the EQ EverCampers feel at home. Seriously, static spawn areas are in for just about that reason. A decent number of players claimed it would be too hard to find certain creatures if they could spawn randomly over large areas. So there are some areas that are relatively small that spawn certain creatures.

Really sad actually, the original vision was to have a dynamic spawning system that would spawn visible lairs. If the lair wasn't destroyed, the lair could take over the immediate area it was in with a decent number of creatures. I guess it was too much work to code mixed with the crying for static spawn areas. If the spawning was completely dynamic, it would have given us Rangers even more of a reason to exist (if tracking worked a little differently that is.)

Wow, I feel really dumb.

I'd thought I'd explored every area of lok .. and I've never seen the gurk king lair. **edit** (its probably on my POI which I never check lol)

If one of you will give me the wp in private message or here I'd appreciate it. Its not for camping the lairs, I just like to actually explore these areas.

I have heard a little rumor that wont really be an issue (if its true) for several months. Apparently, when the Space Expansion comes in, the "size" of our planets will be increased dramatically. We're 7x7 now, right? For a total of about 49 square kilometers? This is a pretty small area for flying craft to be active in. Apparently the siz will be right around 100x100, for about a ten thousand square kilometers. I've noticed when running along the planets "edge" that the terrain seems to be fully developed beyond the border for as far as you can see. So its my theory that this land already exists for the most part, and when the SE comes, they will drop the borders.

So, when applied to this thread, it would have an interesting effect. The already sparse populations of the servers will be significantly more spread out, and you should have less problems with campers since there will be a huge area to hunt in. I too think they hould not allow for these static spawns. If ceatures spawned randomly, it allows for a more interesting gameplay. Imagine how useful Tracking would be (once its fixed) in a HUGE environment.

Jedi will never be a starting profession...Looted items and quest items will never be better then crafted items, this is not a loot based game...CH will return shortly...CH and BE will not be back in game...Rangers are getting their revamp next!...The stealth system will not be changing in the spy expertise...Need any more examples of things the devs said that did not hold true?

"when the Space Expansion comes in, the "size" of our planets will be increased dramatically."

If true, that would indeed be very cool.

The option for expansion can also be seen in the way the coordinate system is handled, with (0, 0) being in the middle of the planetary map... Allowing growth in all four directions.

hmmm, interesting rumor. I doubt if it's true tho. I heard someone saying that atmospheric flight in this game would be nearly impossible because of the way they designed the graphics engine. If this is the case it's more likely that having a ship will allow travel to other "areas" of the planets where you get in your ship and travel to the northern/southern/eastern/western side of the planet and you will see an auto-takeoff and auto-landing sequence. You'll get off the ship in another area of the planet the same size, possibly greater, as the maps we have now. there'll just be more of them.

Increasing the size of the current maps poses another problem as well. consider the distance between all the cities in the current maps. I mean the game cities not the player cities. If they increase the size of the maps as much as you say they might, then those cities will seem rediculously close to one another and way too concentrated to a single area. they'd have to balance it by adding an impossible ammount of cities, or completely change the map itself increasing the distance between all the static objects in the game.

Gurk kings sometimes spawn as boss mobs from lairs as well so there is no need to camp at all.........
