Do camo kits act like Novice Ranger Mask Scent or Better? .... Better than Master Scout Mask Scent?

I've experienced camo working against npc's like pirates on Lok, which mask scent definitely does not. Also since I got +26 camo/maskscent from my clothing giving me 106 camo I noticed that some npc's on tatooine were not seeing me and I was getting scout exp from them as a result. This was three weeks ago approx. My scout exp is capped now so I have no idea what is/isn't seeing me when I am camoed.

I have on me +15 camo pants, +3 camo rebel signet ring +5 camo spec. ops back-pack, making my total +123 camo...and darn kreetles break it every time.

I usually use the mask scent because camo seems to fail more often than not. That, and it doesnt take resources. I have crates of camo for every planet, and they usually just sit there, when I am soloing. I do use the camo on doctors and CM, because those are the last people I want to go down in a fight.

the group usually determines whether or not I camo other people, but for me, maskscent is sufficent

I don't carry conceal kits anymore. I have a Doctor bud that I have to protect, but I found just being a TKA was much better than using conceal on him. That allows me to concentrate on harvesting the qood quality animal resources. Honestly, I rarely mask anymore (at elast, I am not constantly masked like I used to be) since just about every red dot sees through the mask (with +25 camo/mask clothing). Que sera sera.

Just as a counterpoint to Calculus_Entropy. I too have a Doctor buddy. I too am a Teras Kasi.

However, I use camo kits extensively to conceal my healer.

Of course, I also constantly usemask scent on myself... I like to be the one to start combat, rather than having combat forced on me while I'm not watching.

But, I'm just like that. The Trandoshan control freak.

I think what everyone is trying to say is "Don't know." It is one of our not-so-perfect abilities. We know how we would like it to work, but not how it actually works. I have walked past Rancors without a problem with both yet been agroed in an instant by much smaller say Shapuats creatures. And I have also broken a lot on Rancors. It is the luck of the lopsided dice.

Camo kits are good for a group setting. When we hunt we use them a lot. Just gives us a little more control like NRaas said. Otherwise both skills are there and they work/don't work.

Touchy subject this........

I was on Lok with a friend the other day, I am a master ranger, he is a master scout.

My camouflage was broken 4 times in 3 minutes, his maskscent was broken once during the hour and a half we were there.

Go figure

Here's my answer: beats me.

I've noticed that you can remain scent masked through hordes of kreetles and dragonets with no problem sometimes, and other times, the first kreetle you find will see past it. And the same is true with Camoflauge, only camo is more expensive.

The only difference I can think of is that someone once told me that scent mask only works up to a certain level of creature (like, you can't ever succeed with mask scent around a krayt) but camo will work on higher level things. But that's not based on experience, so still, I don't know.

I believe that camo has a bug to those ranged professions with a concealment modifier. I have noted that all melee profession have no problem with conceal breaking, many, many riflemen do have a problem and mixed for others. I cannot fathom the mechanizm behind this but the observation holds, none the less.

Personally the way i see it, Camo was designed for concealing others. Masked Scent very rarely fails for me. Camo fails every other creature. Also if you look at the Scout XP gained Camo gives 2x creature level and Masked Scent gives 3x, Camo is not useless, also it isnt just a better version of Masked Scent.

Mask Scent does fail quite often for me, however. I can be garenteed to have a diseased vrelt see me. EVERY time, masked scent or concealed.
