Looks like devs are amending there camp changes.. I think this is a good compromise. I wasn't happy about losing yet another reason to be Ranger even though it wasn't a particularlyuseful reason.

As I replied to Runesabre, it's nice to see common sense prevail.

Uhmmm so what does that mean?

Camps will still be required?

What's that about a time delay? It's the frst I've heard of it.

"so what does that mean?"

Old system:

  • Camp is required to pull a pet

New system:

  • If you pull a pet while not in camp there will be a time delay before the pet is called

  • If you pull a pet while in camp there is no time delay

To further what NRaas said, the system was going to be that there would be a 30 second elay on calling pets/droids/vehicles from the datapad regardless of where you were, city/camp/wilderness. Lots of peoplelet the Devsknow how little sense that idea made. So they changed it to what NRaas said, no delay in calling if in a city or a camp.

That is weak. I cetainly hope this doesn't mean they will put off revamping camps. Besides, it takes me 30s to find a camp in my inventory and call it.

I rather there be no time delay and not have to use camps... this is not what camps are intended for.. But .. since I can call one faster then 30 sec, then I'll probably keep doing that.

I'm gladyou cleared that up NRaas, the original post was.. confusing... in it's language.

I'm relativly happy about this change in how the "camp's" system works. Importantly it shows that a differenciation can be made in where your character is standing, this is importantbecause itshows us that different values/rules can be assigned to things dependant on where the individual is standing.

ergo.. since we know that locations can inflict a status effect on you (sarlac pit/disease) and that an underlying system (rules governing calling of mob's) can change dependant on location. We also know that a location can change the boundry's of where mob's spawn (city's suppress creature spawning) as well as a city's ability to increase yeild results from hand mineing (again an underlying system/city perk).

so whats stopping ranger camps suppressing local spawning ? or indeed whats stopping a hunting blind increasing local spawning while adding to mask scent of all contained within ?

All the systems we've ever wanted to be implimented for camps are already in place within other aspects of the game.

and although I personally think that the way that the system will now work is good and correct and is as it should be I'm aware that camps have still become unnecisary with this change and as suchnowmore than ever camps need to at the very least have a responce from the developers with some details as to there intentions for them, plus any conserns they have with any suggestions we've made about them already.

What we really need is to remove the delay altogether and to properly address camps so they have a real, desirable function.

the only time camps are worth anything is if someone gets a seriously nasty disease and ends up with a massive amount of wounds out in the middle of nowhere AND your medic/doc doesn't have a droid to pull out. Wait, they all have droids to pull out. Nevermind.

I agree, this is only a quick fix(I hope it is better not be consdiered a camp upgrade) because really we will still only be pulling out basic camps like before except this time it won't be required but possibly if you have a spare camp it will save you half a minute of your life.

I hope the devs don't look at this as a good reason to postpone aking camps for desirable though. It should be a like a bandaid, there to temporary help the problem but the problem will have to mend so that the bandaid can be ripped off and the wound gone.
