Was just reading through lots of threads from crafters about how hard it will be post-CUto survey/maintain harvesters with red dots one hit killing them as they drive by. Does this open up a niche for Ranger/Surveyors? I tried being this a while back and found that crafters were more interested in my lots than the resources I was selling so I dropped surveying to master rifleman and harvest creature resources full-time. Maybe with the CU crafters will be more willing torely on ranger/surveyors to gather resources for them?
My apologies if this has already been discussed fully,
Cheers,

I honestly doubt anyone will pick up ranger just for being able to get to their harvesters easier. What I do see happening, though, is more group hunting to their harvesters to grab what they need and leave.
People won't pick up a class just for one ability, most crafters also need merchant - so they can't have it all.

May go the other way around though, because I just gave up novice artisan for some rifle boxes. Reason I had it was because I would do surveying for my guild and let them know when I found good deposits. Also got to where I'd buy my own harvs and do my own mining for monkey. So I can definately see is more Rangers being hired out by guild artisans to mine for them.

A ranger/surveyor is a bit like using a hammer to crack a nut. Even the high end planets are workable for a careful scout, tho post CU cammo may become more important.
I had a fairly regular contract spotting sites for harvies for a couple of docs, money wasn't great (10k per site) but it was good 'repeat business, easy for me to do and I clocked up plenty of POI badges and scout XP "way back then"

We might be able to make a quick buck by just applying a camo kit to them. i don't remember if we have to be grouped for it to work. if not this might give us a cred or two.

I have about 50 filters for non creature resources set up on SWGCraft. I don't have surveying skills but I can get that done for free or cheap when something hot spawns. Then I mine it. I do see my self making more money off this post CU just because the less dedicated crafters aren't going to be able to hack it.
I call my self a Ranger/Prospector. I already play babysitter for squishy crafters on places like Endor. As long as its someone I like or I'm getting paid very well I kinda enjoy it. Can't hunt fat stacks all the time.

You don't have to be grouped to camo someone; I ambush camo people all the time on Dathomir, especially if I have a kit I want to use up and get out of inventory.
My alt is a surveyor and in fact sells resources for a living. He has zero combat skills. I got him Scout 2000 so he could get Mask Scent, and went ahead and got him 4000 and some bonus clothing. It helps. For surveying or dropping harvs anywhere that I feel will be too risky to go "naked," I get buffs and/or a bodyguard.
