I saw the servers weredown soI went into chat to see what's up.. man, how depressing. I'm not kidding you, you would think we had the most awful game out there by listening to the kiddies whine, cry and argue. I was on for 5 minutes and it made me want to quit the game. We really have it good on our ranger board.

Even two weeks ago it was not as bad as many boards are every day. This is an excellent community that rarely gives in to the bad habits of others. Even with all the doom and gloom several members stepped forward and organized the Ranger community and helped get our biggest problem with the CU addressed. Other communities are still just fighting amongst themselves and their issues are not being addressed.

I want to thank everyone that worked on the CU issues, sorry I did not participate more in this.It appears they are listening now, keep up the good work.

I guess even Rangers have wild mood swings

it comes from being out in the wild too long.

But Calc, even you came back.

Besides, it was mostly just folks getting very wound up about getting no communication, having too many questions, and making tons of assumptions on data that is in a test environment, and is quite likely skewed in specific directions for force specific testing. I still think that not everyone "gets" that concept, that the test server isn't there just to frog-up your template and go see how you can PvP, but as you and Ken and others have pointed out time and time again, it's for testing of the new systems - and quite often that means devs are going to do things that just seem hugely unbalanced or wrong, trying to gently nudge the unwashed masses towards whatever it is they WANT testing data on. Given the scope of these changes and the huge number of "voluntary" testers from the player base, it's probably not possible for them to generate actual test scripts for players to follow (and I doubt many would, since most of the folks doing this "testing" aren't really testing, they are just wanted to see the new system). I work at a tech consulting company and have been involved in so many rounds of User Acceptance testing and such that I'm quite familiar with that concept, and with more formal testing with scripts and the like. Probably not everyone logging into TC-EP3 has that luxury tho.

When you're told that your profession isn't a combat profession, isn't within the scope of what's currently going on and get zero feedback... it's kinda hard to expect players to shrug if of as a "testing enviroment" experience.

Our CL wasn't bugged, too low, out of whack or underpowered which would have been typical scenarios a tester would encounter.

The fact that we're now getting CL is not because something is being re-balanced, it's a core change to the design docs.

Now where's my /conceal?

thats yet another reaon im a ranger. cause the people that play ranger seem more mature as a rule.

maybe its cause they dont base their gaming experience on PVP only?

Oh trust me, I agree that the last 2 weeks have been amazingly frustrating in some ways. However, I agree w/Calc that folks let things probably get a TINY bit out of control. There are certainly MANY valid issues we were facing and still face, I'm still unhappy that we're still largely "out of scope" for the CU, but that's how these things go. It didn't help that folks were getting spun up about stuff that really doesn't matter all that much or wasn't so much "game breaking" as it was "I can't wear the armor skin that I want", for example. I'd much rather see us continue to focus on the things we can change now. Getting the CL (& assumedly health) issue addressed as part of the CU puts us on VERY solid ground to make the "Scout & Ranger are combat professions" in the future, and puts us on a very solid footing for the Ranger Revamp, whenever that actually hits.

And as always, as a community - we definitely come together for teh win!

Even at our worst - with morons asking for macros, people floating wildass ideas that would completely change the profession for the worse, and no one listening to anything resembling reason - we are a lot better off than most forums.

If you really want an experience, for those masochists at heart, go visit the BH board (average IQ is the freezing point of sea water), the Jedi forum (whiney dullards, worse than the BHs) and then visit any ranged weapon board and read the posts about DPM, DPS, and stuff like that (damage per minute and damage per shot or second, who cares?) for some completely bewildering times.

Hell, even the Scout forum is quiet now that the BHs have mostly all left. Only a few weeners looking for macros.

Wow , the AS forum just joined the list.. oh and JB, I honestly believe that you personally scared off all of the BH's out of the scout forum... honestly...

Yes, The AS profession did join the list. It is intolerable. Having an AS alt i was trying to go in there and see what changes were being made and how i could prepare for them. Instead all i see are irrational whining. There's even a post buried in there (unfortunantly i am not making this up) comparing AS's plight in this game to the Jews plight in WWII. I was so shocked when i read that that post that i had to reread it, then i decided that i couldn't take it anymore and swore off the AS forums until after the CURB hits.

Then i cam to the Ranger boards... i hadn't had much to say on them because i have been more concerned with what's happening to my AS alt. But it's so refreshing to be a part of a community that understands how to have civilized debate, and understands what the point of a forum is.

I guess this is my
/salut to the ranger/scout community
