The Master Ranger/Master Rifleman combo seems like it will be pretty popular as a lot of us like the idea of the /cover up ability. Additionally Rangers are supposed to be able to use area track to find a rifleman even while under cover. This gets us as close to a sniper profession as this game can really support. Additionally the ability to find a rifleman even while under cover makes it such that a pair of Ranger/Rifleman could easily get involved in a sniper/counter-sniper game in PvP.

Imagine one SF Rebel and one SF Imperial hunting each other across the wilds of Endor in a cat and mouse game. Imagine also that a Ranger on point could be very important in preventing a band of SF players from walking into an ambush. Four or five rifleman could set up outside an approach to a base and if they all focused on one player at a time kill at least one or two approaching players before anyone knew what was going on. A single ranger in a group could prevent this and even turn the tables.

We have yet to test this more, but to me it seems like there is a lot of potential for this combo to provide rangers with a lot of fun.

This idea sounds a lot like the film 'Enemy at the Gates' and I think it would be great if the CU allowed for those sort of encounters. It may finally give rangers a role in PvP.

If you like that stuff, ignore the movie and read "War of the Rats", which is another account of the historical events the film is based upon, in Stalingrad. Very detailed exploration of sniper methods and psyche.

The sniping/countersniping potential in the CU is large, if they ever get /cover and /camo working correctly (those two should stack, imho). Makes all those junk "defence against posture up" tapes worth buying now, if you can find them.
