Later tonight I will be setting up a gallery in SWGRanger for the first SWGRanger Challenge.
Here is what you're asked to do:
- Using whatever armor your certed for build a suit of "Ranger" armor. For example: If you're Ranger/Rifleman you can build a suit composed of Battle and Recon armors.
- Hit CTRL+1 and blow up the examine window so its nice and big. This is very important! Please take the shot in the Examine window so we can see the armor clearly.
- Get a screenshot of yourself wearing your suit of "Ranger" armor. Please don't equip weapons. Let's Just do a profile.
- Then you can head over to the SWGRanger gallery and post it along with your Forum Name.
- Include the following:
- Head piece:
- Left Shoulder:
- Right Shoulder:
- Left Bracer:
- Right Bracer:
- Gloves:
- Chest Piece:
- Pants:
- Boots:
Rules:
- No Factional Armor on this go around ... this is meant to be a Universal "Ranger" armor.
- No Clothing other than Armor for now, this isn't a uniform it's a suit of Armor.
- Have fun with it.
That's it. It's not really a contest just a challenge. Just have some fun and be creative.
Feel free to leave any section you want blank if you so choose.

I spent half an hour yesterday putting together a cool set of armor. Sadly, I am using a Rebel Assault Armor helmet (the best looking one I could find). Is it necessary to have all parts of the body covered up with armor? It actually looks best with a set of shades instead of a helmet.

I actually really like one of the Rebel helmets as well. I just wanted these to be universal suits. Feel free to leave anything blank, this is really just for fun afterall.

As I understand it, and I admitt I am not certain about this, that within each armor set (say like Battle Armor) you can mix and match because they basically have the same core and ingrediants and the AS are just putting a different skin on them, like the BEs do for their creatures. Thus mixing within a set is not going to have any complications, but shifting out side of set doesn't that have consequences to the armor overall acting as a armor set and not a hodge podge mismatch of various types of sets. Am I wrong on this?

As I understand it:
Within any group (battle, recon, assault) there is no difference between sets so long as they're crafted with the same cores. Between the sets is where the difference is.
Now, if you have Master Ranger / Master Rifleman you have full mitigation on both Recon and Battle and as such you can wear pieces of both freely.
Each armor group has its strengths and weaknesses so its upto you to figure out if you're willing to mix it up or not.
As it stands in the CU armor does not appear to be working properly. If you get hit for 50, and armor mitigates 29, you still take the full 50. That could just be a bug with the pop up numbers but I'm unsure still.
My current suit is mixed Recon / Battle (more heavily mixed if I'm using factional pieces).
Again, this is just my current understanding. If I can figure out any differences I'll be sure to correct this.
