BadMisterFrosty, the GCW Corr, has posted a thread about roles in the GCW.

Its a good opportunity to let him (and everyone else) know what we envision for ourselves. Make sure to read the thread guidelines he lays out (I saw the word "summary" and laughed, knowing how hard that is for us).

Right now? Greet the others at the cloner I guess, have a tendency to ending up there first
But eventually, at least I would like Ranger to be a Recon/Scout sort of trooper. Checking for enemy movement and moving behind enemy lines. Taking out skirmishers with traps and stealth out in the wilds.

I posted a couple of suggestions. Both involved other professions. But they were very Ranger-heavy.

PHE'NIX ANTARUS
BOTHAN ELDER RANGER
BEST LOOKINGSPY EVER--FOUNDER OF SATGWNIWNU
BURNING H*TPANTS SINCE 2003

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

I'll quote my post of ideas here for referance:

What I envision for Ranger: (Might be a tad verbose, as we've got nothing right now...)

I'd like to see Ranger be something of a recon role

- do something to expand cammo to take us off radar (or at officialy recognise that it's supposed to work against NPC's
- give Rangers defense mods
- Rangers can already use area track to find other players who are cloaked or under cover, possibly expand this into a single-click ability to use in battle
- do something to camps to make them more useful, possibly add defenses to players who are in a camp
- make Ranger traps work agains players and NPCs
- make Ranger TN reduce or eliminate the speed slow down when holding a ranged weapon
- give Rangers some ranged weapon accuracy mods. We've spent coutless hours hunting some nasty critters, and have learned to be crack shots (If I can hit a small critter running around quickly, I should be able to hit a happless stormtrooper....)
- To fit the recon role, some kind of "suggest target" ability might be nice, but this is stepping on the toes of a squad leader....

I know there's division of whether Ranger means "Army Ranger" or "Mountian Man", but I say for the skill points it takes, we should get both. My vision is that a Ranger is something like Davy Crockett, mostly an outdoorsie woodsman type, but capable of leading troops if he had to.

I've always thought that it would be really cool to have areas of a planet that are so harsh and dangerous that you need a ranger to take you through. These new "harsh areas" would be no -build zones of course, maybe block you out from the radar, eviromental effects or something, and have bad critters that, withouth camo, would aggro you in a hot second. So.. the usefulness would be that a ranger could take you through and place you in a more strategic spot, or take a shortcut around an enemy stonghold.

It's just too bad that nobody is willing to make the game "harder" for some better content.
