Hi Rangers... i have a few questions for you I have looked everywhere on your forums for answers for these....
Ok so if you were just a ranger and nothing else, would you still own creature npc's? Heh, we don't really own them if we DO have a combat profession. Our combat profession determines what we can own.
Would traps be the only weapons you could hunt with? Traps aren't damage dealers, they are state dealers.
Are there any weapons specific to Master Ranger? If so can you show some stats? We don't have a weapon.
And lets pretend I was interviewing you for a ranger position.... Could you tell me why you want to be a ranger? I am a Ranger because that is what I am. Read through the descriptions of the professions, and this one fit my personality best.
What do you see being the best part of being a ranger? and lastly what are the cons of being a ranger? It's hard to say what the best part of being a Ranger is. There are a lot of little things that add up to being a Ranger. I would say the biggest con, right now, is that our skills become less useful every day. i used to pride myself in saying that we were a mostly complete profession, but those days are long gone now. We absolutely need work, but the profession is still playable, and still fun. We are pretty much bug free (some of the newer bugs are going away with the next publish), but there just isn't a whole lot of usefullness in Ranger right now.
I know thats a lot so let the discussions begin.... if you can answer as many questions as possible...

If you were only a ranger and nothing else, you would NOT own creatures. And your CL would be too low to hunt big game.
Traps arent really damaging, they are useful as a support tool to your combat specials.
I prefer master ranger over mastering another combat prof because I can go out and hunt and not just get mission money, but as a ranger I contribute to the economy by providing resources for armor smiths, tailors, chefs, docs, etc. It gives me a better sense of purpose in the game.
Thats great are there any other opinions and answers out there???
So far this is great feedback common keep it up!
and again other professions that complement it would be useful... not just for the money but in order to take out high level creatures im sure you would need a combat profession.... and it seems like CM wouldnt work for that??
Idea's?

Well right now im melee.. but I have tried every battle class there is all the way to master level.... so I could go either way... So another question that might help me decide, do any traps do any amount of dammage... and has anyone tried TKA with ranger??
not sure if its possible but it would make a person very self sufficient.

Traps are pretty much exclusively for applying states, not dealing damage.
There are traps to reduce a creature's melee/ranged defense, once ot root them, and ones to snare them. there are also dizzy and stun ones, and i think a blind one as well.
That is very good info, I am trying to lean away from MBH though cause I played one for a long time and dont really like them. Great stats and states and specials... but I want something different but still effective... my current temp is MS TKA Doc 4000, pretty standard but very nice melee combo, and i have tried all ranged professions. So i could always try TKA /MR and see how it is then prerhaps try something differerent, also trying to see what possibilites are with MSL also

One thing you gotta be careful with is when you hit master ranger, you can only master one other prof, so it needs to be well rounded.
You can try going up different branches in different combat profs, but more likely than not you will end up with a CL less than 80 which is not so great.
I think i built a template where i had stopping shot from pistols, most of the bh specials, and some rifleman speed and acc bonuses, but it only took me to CL 77. I was pretty well rounded, but going up agains CL 82 stuff was a pain. Took forever and had to heal a lot and run around throwing snares and roots.
Try not to rely on the pdart too much, it will be fixed soon. It will still be useful after the fix, but not uber like it is now.

so when will you lead us in a musical of "We're not gonna take it"?
I thought we Ranger's weren't the complaining type?
Maybe if you're nice, we can work it into the ranger meet on the 23rd.
Yea the temp I have now i can solo a group of 5 82's but i am going to give up my combat capabilities eventually... I like ranger and MSL but cant just survive on both ![]()
Thanks for the input guys
