Thread: Ranger/TKA or Ranger/Rifileman?

Hey Folks,

Sooo...My Trando is getting relatively close to finishing Master Scout (4/2/3/4) and I've made quite a bit of progress in the Marksman tree (3/4/0/3). I'm torn between going BH or going Ranger. I will predominantly be PvE, but would like to participate in PvP from time to time as well. I've done quite a bit of research, but I'm still having a tough time making a decision with so many cool options...

However, if I do decide to go Ranger I was wondering if the Ranger/TKA is viable for what I'd like to do or is Ranger/Rifleman a better choice? For PvE I guess it doesn't really matter, but for those times I'm PvP'ing I'd like to be able to contribute without dying too quickly.

Hopefully you guys can provide some good feedback or advice on choosing a path.

Thanks!

- In PvE vs Creatures: I like melee as all the creatures eventually end up close range anyways if you don't run fast enough, and that is rather bad if you are a carrying a rifle.

- In PvE vs Ranged NPCs: Issues with kiting and shooting through terrain can become annoying, but they can be overcome with some fancy footwork.

- If you want viability in PvP, don't choose a melee profession. From the comments made by the other TKs on the TK forum, issues regarding kiting, shooting through terrain, and other problems will cause you considerable grief in PvP.

- My choice is in my sig.

Thanks for the reply NRass,

This is true to an extent. However with threaten/warning shot (assuming you dump some SP intothe Ranged Weapon Support branch) you may rarely have to run.

How is your combination working out?

I love the idea of just going off and exploring on my own in relative safety, compared to the other classes, and I think Ranger gives me that. I don't care about "pwning" everyone in PvP, but I would like to enjoy the time I spend PvP'ing. I guess you can't have it all...

Thanks again for the reply!
