Thread: Camouflage: my testing and update

Hello. It's me again, the official Camouflage cry-baby.

I loved Camouflaged. I loved how it helped me travel around without aggro.

I was really upset when they nerfed it around dec 28, secretly, and how now i get attacked all the time by NPC...

I tested more, and here is what i experienced:

With a camo kit on, if i encounter an aggressive NPC spawn, i will get immediatly attacked as soon as i hit range. But just by a few. Exemple, aggressive Talus Bandits. See them, get within 64m, Bam, i get aggro. I kill it. Get close again, usually a second aggro. And then nothing. So from a spawn of 7-8 NPC, 2 will instantly attack, but once they are dealt with, the others just ignore me. I can walk up to them, dance with them, no aggression. So althought Camo is not perfect anymore, it does seam to work up to a point.

Problem is if that aggro one is red. I nicknamed those few aggro per spawn sniffers.

Faction NPC: I'm a Rebel. I tested on imps, and it appears that Camouflage works perfectly against them still. I can be overt, and walk hand-in-hand with stormtrooper between the legs of an At-ST and NOT be uncovered. I am Master Ranger, with +38 Camo on cloths. So, no imperial sniffers.

I tried to apply the Camo on a friend Artisan/smuggler (no base camo/mask scent). He could approach the stormtrooper but would get some camo breaks. As for the AT-ST, camo would break 100% of time, the metal-chicken would always detect him and break camo.

So, bottom line is:

Self-camo still perfect against faction NPC.

Self-camo does not work on about 20% NPC per spawn, but works well once you get rid of these sniffers.

Camo-others is weaker then self-camo.

My appreciation: I still wish camo would be a strong as it was. Those NPC sniffers do prevent a rifleman/ranger exploit of whiping out high-red con spawns using conceal shots. But, saddly, with these sniffers, we can't relliably use camouflage to explore and help other explore high end planets like Dathomir. 2 nightsister clan sniffers are enuff to take me down. I still wish for Camo to work like it did, i don't see how it is overpowered, when compared to doctor buffs, or flamethrower. We are an advance profession that requires a Base Mastery, i think hiding form NPC is reasonable.

Yes, with Ranger and Rifleman, i can kill an AT-ST. Or a force sensitive spawn. But i need the camo. 20 minutes. And 3 Muon Gold.

A master CH + flamethrower commando can do the same easily. How are Ranger overpowered again that we needed a nerf???

Anyways, i will test more. Will keep you updated.

I really dont think we got nerfed on Dec 28th, or really at any point in the holidays, particularily on Camo which was just mentioned as being 'not intended' a few days before. Even a company like SOE doesnt make changes while the majority of your core staff is on holidays.

I have noticed absolutely no change in the effectiveness of Camo on NPCs. Its always been buggy working on some red dot NPCs and not others, for me atleast its about the same. Same NPCs ignore it, same NPCs it works for.

that's great....the secret nerf has really dampened my love of this #$^% game.

So have you tested your conceal against a covert faction scanner?

We never spoke....I was never here

Conceal does not, I say again, NOT, work against faction scanners if you are covert. It pops you in a hot second.

However, get tagged, run away (Brave Sir Brian), conceal and come back. I have a 60% success rate on staying concealed and doing stuff in the fort itself - like deactivate mines.

Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes you are Ranger munchables.

Camo which was just mentioned as being 'not intended'

Can someone please take a screenshot of the IN GAME definition of conceal and of the IN GAME description of the wayfairing box #1 in the skill tree, and post them , and make them sticky at the top of the forums??

Camo was intended, at least by the staff in charge of skill description, to work on NPC.

Yes the in game messages say it should work against NPCs. I dont disagree with that, I am simply stating that I dont feel a hidden stealth nerf went in on dec 28th, or at any point in the holidays.

I got this sense of a hidden nerf from personal experience. On one night, i think it was on the 23th cause we were excited about holos, me and 2 friends went to lord Nyax' lair.

I started first by hunting for Corellian Camo ingredients. As i was swooping looking for spinefly drones for the insect parts, i kept getting aggro from NPC. When i finally got the camo done, i got no more aggro... Not only that, i concealed my 2 friends, a CH+commando, and an artisan/smuggler.

With the Camo on, the 3 of us walked in the base, and reach Nyax undisturbed. Only Nyax spotted us (it actually uncovered my smuggler bud).

Few days later, around the 28, i really felt like camo was nerfed, i kept getting aggro everywhere. So i headed back to test at Nyax', and as soon as i'm in range of the base do i get shoot at. So, i'm far from the wallk-in-the-park i used to have.

Same for Yavin4, a planet i loved hunting. Now, the NPC aggro is just too much, while nefore i could sit in the middle of an aggro FS NPC spawn.

I'm still testing.

Aye...

I believe we are alluber observantin regards to the interaction of Humanoids and /conceal since the "revelation"...

  • It is doubtful that the developers would have released any changes over the Christmas holidays.

Personally, /conceal has been "broken" for so long now, I doubt they would hotfix it now.

Most likely, any serious changes will occur when the developers cycle back to us in a couple months.
