I was thinking of going BE/Ranger to get the conceal skill.
I was a Master Ranger once, but to be honest it was so long ago, last time I checked Camo and Maskscent seemed to have even success rates.
I say this assuming that you need to be concealed or masked to approach a creature for sampling.
Anyone have any feedback?
Thanks.

as far as i can tell, camo and mask do indeed have similar success rates... the difference is, sometimes /conceal will hide you from NPCs - but only certain ones, and sometimes it depends on your factional alignment with a group... but as a BE, this won't really help you much..
in another thread you said you were a bothan, it is possible that your natural bonus to camo would be enough to make /conceal better for you, but i really can't speak with much experience here... i have some BE enhanced clothing, and i don't really see much of a bonus from it now that i'm a master - it seems to break unpredictably no matter what my score is...
in regards to DNA sampling, you don't actually have to be masked or concealed, you just have to be within a certain range and it has to not be in combat... this means on some of the aggressive creatures it helps, but it is not required... back when i was a smuggler i used to help a BE sample mutant rancors, her /masking ability was not high enough to even bother with but she was able to get a ton of DNA as long as i was there to distract the creatures...

Conceal works no better than maskscent, so don't waste skill points. Go buy some BE mod'd clothes, get up around 125% maskscent and then you too can be PO'd when kreetles break your maskscent. And rasps. And freaking scavenger rats. But not Rancors, or Grauls.
