Thread: HTFB healing BF and ability to harvest 3 resources at once

I was out of touch for a couple of weeks. Now that I am back I have noticed a lot of posts about wanting the HTFB to heal BF. I am not for or against this idea, I am just curious. Why? Is it because after the Jedi patch there will not be as much grinders and it won't be possible to get insta-healed in Coronet or Theed?

Personally I have always enjoyed (until the grind started) going to a cantina and getting healed up. But a LOT of people have requested this in a lot of posts so it must be a big wish. If you could post your reasons for wanting it here I would be grateful.

Another thing I am curious about is that a lot of people (for a very long time) have wanted to harvest all three resources. I would rather harvest MORE of one single resource since it is rare that more than one resouce is good at a time. What uses/benefits do people forsee for harvesting all three? For example, I could do _____ if I could harvest all three resources. Again, not really for or against. Just curious!

A year ago I was DEAD AGAINST camp BF healing because the cantina's in the first few months were bare ass empty (yes folks this was before the hologrind).

I figured camp BF healing would pull all the entertainers out of the cantinas and people in the cities would get screwed..WELL!

Now that camps have been screwed so much, to the point of uselessness, screw cantinas!

We need BF healing in camps! Period!

I believe the DEV's shared a similar initial philosophy on cantinas and BF healing, and they almost had a fear of camps being (god forbid) "too useful" and/or "too powerful". (we all know now how "useful" camps are)

And the harvesting of multiple resourses from a single corpse as you progress within RANGER (not scout) is just smart and almost common sense to implement.

I'm nonplussed about BF, I could see letting an entertainer buff and heal BF and mind and all but I'm not all that hot that it must be there. It would make perfect sense tho, it's like a home away from home, it should relax you (the field bases at least).

I do think at some high level, perhaps master perhaps lower, that we should get all 3 resources. This has been the most annoying thing that I would think would be intuituve for Rangers, even more so then stealth and path-finding.

Right now I got Carnivore and Leathery sitting at 3 900's for Dathomir, Eclipse. That latter one would sooo open up my business right now...

The highlighted portion here would easily be solved by larger harvest sizes (if you harvest twice as much per kill then harvesting one resource on the first kill and another on the second gives the same effect). My reason for wanting multiple resourceharvesting is a bit less simple.

Currently, it is only economically worth harvesting the best resource available for the highest paying player. If, in Fred's example above, the carn was selling for 30cpu and the leathery for 50cpu then the carn would likely not be harvested by the average player. The bone would have almost no chance of being harvested at all. The same goes with much lower quality resources. Very few people will bother to go out and hunt low quality resources for lower prices. So hides with 1000 OQ+SR will cost a similar amount to obtain as hides with 1700 OQ+SR (the AS probably would pay less but then they wouldn't be able to get any). This means that crafters will only bother with making high end equipment (why make composite with the 1000 OQ+SR hides when it will cost almost as much to obtain as the better hides but won't sell nearly as well). By forcing players to harvest multiple resources, you will have a large surplus of non-uber resources. Deleting them serves almost no purpose so the hunter is likely to sell them at a very reasonable price. This allows for much lower priced equipment with worse stats (either a second line from the high end crafter or a starting point for the new crafter). Paying 20k for a full suit of composite with 30% resists would be possible while you would still see the high end stuff at 300k (as an example, not very realistic in the current system as the 20k composite would need 10k buffs to wear...). This gives the new crafters a market that they can work in without needing to hunt their own resources. It also makes a market for the new players to buy their equipment in. Would it work? Maybe not (most people only build the stuff that will make them the most profit and most players would probably save up for the better stuff). But it would cause such a situation to be possible.

Cool. I understand and am happy with the replies! Thanks guys!

One more question about the camps: When people ask for camps to heal BF are they asking for the camp itself to heal BF, or are they asking for entertainers to have the ability to heal BF while in camps (or both)?

I think the answer is both+. I think some people want auto BF healing and others want an Ent to be able to heal BF in a camp the old fashioned way. I presume there are those who want camps to autoheal AND have Ents healBF at the same time.

The way i see it about all 3 resources is that you don't have to harvest all 3 but the option is there. Like harvest bone, harvest hide, harvest meat, harvest all. you could choose all or 1 at a time. But how about it this way. The first resource you harvest you get 100% of what you would normally get and the second would be 66% and the third 33%. But yeh it doesnt make sense that I would take the bones out of and animal and leave a skin-bag of meat on the ground to rot. We should be able to take all 3. Rangers don't waste.

Right,

3 resources from one kill, that would just be perfect.... for all the above reasons

HTFB's healing BF, I am in the "only with an entertainer" camp (pun intended) Gives the afk-dancebots an opportunity to go out and hunt for a bit.

Excellent. I am a convert.

I know personally I never use my camps to heal (my friends call me the walking wounded because I just can't seem to keep my HAM bars clean), and probably wouldn't bother using it to heal my BF... but I WOULD if I could tempt a dancer or musician into one. Hehe. I can even see Ranger/Entertainer profession becoming an option. So-and-so's traveling show! That way the Entertainers could leave the afk-spammed cantinas and take their show on the road! IF the modular camp idea is implemented and we can create camps like this using an entertainer module then I would suggest that the camp have no furniture in it - better dance floor. On another side note I would suggest that we add (if we haven't laready) an Image Designer module so IDs can stat migrate in the camps.

I have started as many new characters on as many servers as my one account can provide me and I totally understand the lack of resources. No one even sells clothes on the bazaar anymore. I tried to make a "street-rat" character who lived only in the city and it was impossible because I couldn't get enough money with deliver/crafting missions to pay for resources. So I understand that point very well.

Okay, I'm happy. Thank you!

HEY!!!... i wanted to do this!! (i know, i say this a lot, but...)

when i was a master entertainer i wrote several songs for my mandoviol (my favorite instrument and the only reason i wanted to master entertainer), i couldn't really help with BF or buffing as i wasn't a musician, so instead i travelled around and played at starports to distract people from the "ticket collector double-click time testing syndrome" (TCDCTTS - pronounced "tee-codo-clee-tee-tessy")... it worked pretty well for a while, but eventually i wanted to try something else and had to drop it all... but right before i did, i thought about the possibilties!... i wanted to get as much ranger and musician as i could, and hire myself out as a bard... i'd do all the typical ranger functions: set up a base camp, track, help get everybody to some place safely... and i'd be able to rock the camp at night... heh, i still dream of doing this, i just have to convince my doctor friend he doesn't need swordsman so he can become my backup on the bandfill...

a few of my songs that hit it big: "foxee baby" - written about my rodian chick, foxee; "planet forest" -a kashyyykian song to the tune of "land down under;" and "we didn't start the fire" - a historical song about the state of the galaxy and the GCW...

oh... sorry to derail, paks... umm...

i'd like BF to cure in camps, but only with the aide of an entertainer...

3 resource harvesting sounds great, and i think it's better than just increasing the amount we harvest at once...

Can someone tell me why fishing doesn't heal bf? IRL that is what I do to relax, why not in game?
