Thread: Level stuff, what you get

Novice Scout dosen't raise your level.

With no other skills Training up to IV in one line gets you one level for the first 2 boxes, and two levels for the next two. If you train another line you don't get anything for the first two boxes, you get one level for the third, and two for the fourth.

Scout 1/1/1/1 gives you a level of three. Confused yet?

Master Scout. 15
Noivce Ranger 17
Master Ranger 60
Ranger 4/4/4/4 53
Ranger 0/0/4/0 32 <--owch

Thanks for doing the research on this.

Now I got to play with Rifle - Carbine - and BH looking at the stacked melee defense and attack speeds.

Plus what are the good ranged specials for hunting.

Is there any indication on the skill boxes as to whether the box contributes to your level? (TC is down, so I can't check myself).

I spent a solid two hours working on thislast night...

This system is dynamic in a vey bizarre way. I believe there to be a hidden level system which governs it but was unable to discover how it worked. There are certain constants which I'm more than willing to share though... I'd love to get a group working on figuring it out.

Fair warning... if you embark upon this do not use the frog "surrender all skills" option. It gives you a waypoint for each box you drop. I have over 500 of these waypoints in my datapad now and am unable to add any until they're all deleted.

Anyway,

In Scout:

  1. Any of the tier 1boxes grants +1 CL and +50 health.

  2. An additional tier 1 box grants +1CL and +25 health. Trapping 1 does not though.

  3. A third tier 1 box grants nothing.

  4. A fourth tier one box grants nothing.

Then things get funky and flying all over the place.

At first I thought it was related to SP spent but I proved this wrong when I found that Scout 0/2/2/0 produced 25fewer health than Scout2/0/2/0.

My next thought was that some boxes didn't grant a CL bonus in order to prevent stacking via branches, unfortunately I disproved this when I discovered scout 4/0/0/0 produced a different health bonus than 0/0/4/0 or 0/4/0/0.

The best I can tell so far is that there's a hidden modifier that adds up to build CL. Then, from CL all good things come.

Just remember CL appears to cap at 80 even theleft overtripple master only produces 80 for a CL.

If you go from nothing but Novice Scout, Traping grants levels just like any other line. Its when you start mixing a matching that things get all wacky. At least that what it did for me.

With any line of scout I saw 1 level for the first two boxes of the first line, then 2 levels for the next two (meaning one full line). Then if a took a second line I got nothing for the first two boxes and 1 level for the third and 2 levels for the fourth. I gave up there.

I think if you go drop your novice pilot box you won't get that pop up and waypoint.

I thought for sure I had a 25 point difference when I did the trapping line only. I could be wrong.

The mixing and matching is what I was most interested in just because I was curious as to how it was setup.

I think if you go drop your novice pilot box you won't get that pop up and waypoint.

yeah, haha, just didn't realize it was happening til the deed was done.

Now I'm not definite on this but if Scout/Ranger works similarly to the combat professions then it may be based .. or also based on experience points converted to training...

I've been playing with the levelling system with a couple of my accounts on the test center and came up with the following:

Trandoshan - Level 1 - 1000 Health

Training done in order

Two Handed I (1000 xp) - Level 2 - 1050 Health

Two Handed II (5000 xp) - Level 3 - 1075 Health

Unarmed I (1000 xp) - Level 3 - 1075 Health

Unarmed II (5000 xp) - Level 3 - 1075 Health

Unarmed III (15000 xp) - Level 5 - 1125 Health

Two Handed III (15000 xp) - Level 5 - 1125 Health

So far it looks like you gain levels at 1k, 5k and10k and then every 10k after that .. but not seen what happens at the next milestone .. maybe 50k and then 100k .. 500k and 1000k .. Will have to play with the frogs to see what happens with different combination of skills. Maybe any xp related to the combat level is calculated and seeing as scout/ranger are now combat related *yaaay* those skills xp are included too ..

Still a pity though that Scout still remains the only occupation needed to be mastered to move to its elite branch.

I think these are related to pilot skills. If you drop your pilot skills at one of the NPCs first, you shouldn't get those (I think).
