Thread: Ranger Testing: Converted Server changes

Ok, so yesterday I finally got to see what will happen in a couple of weeks to my character on Bloodfin. I didn't notice any changes in Scout or Ranger, except for mitigations on armor encumbrances. I checked my traps, and they're all still there. I checked my resources, and they still have the same stats. My rescue attachments are still intact.

I will be testing today to see if all of our abilities still function as they should. I'll start with trapping, then examining, then harvesting, then Tracking, then rescuing. If anyone is on Bloodfin and wants to join me, send me an email (as tells don't seem to work right now.)

Let me know what I should be looking for. I want to move forward with this. So far, the only bug in my conversion was my Xwing turning into the new model from Rage of the Wookies and removing my weapons from existence. They were looted, so no biggie. Easy come, easy go.

I'll update this post when I have some information.

Forgot to mention: I have Master TK on TC-Bloodfin, with 2700 Health and a Challenge Level of 75.

Master Teras Kasi, Ranger 4344 was my template at that time.

hehe - it didn't go that well for me -- all of the fs skill boxes that I have mean that the only elite master combat prof that I'm qualified for with master ranger is master bh, which does have some nice stuff, but felt very underpowered to me. I went to yavin and was incapped by a level 30 gian crystal snake (I was level 80 and wearing armor - no buffs). I didn't have any special BH weapons though, only a nym's carbine and my beserker rifle (both of which I could use because I had the combat level). I'm thinking though that maybe I shouldn't have gone MBH and should have tried a few other things - like dropping the investigation tree of masteer bh and getting some trees that would give me more speed (with mbh I had really high ranged and melee defence, but only 40 general ranged speed, so I could read a short novel between my shots).

Oh, and I also discovered that I could drop FS skills -- but I'm not sure that I'm ready to do that yet -- it's a lot of effort and xp down the drain.

a) are you sure it was the only thing attacking you?

b) did you /examine it?

c) was it's health regenerating faster than yours?

d) was it using poison to damage you?

e) was it attacking at range or in melee?

f) what was it's maximum health?

g) what was it's health before you were incapacitated?

h) what were it's resists?

I don't mean to ask these questions to annoy you, although it is an annoyingly long list. These are the factors of that combat instance that I could think of right now that would affect the outcome of the fight.

I didn't look at most of those things I'll have to admit -- it was ranged, spitting at me and it's health was regenerating faster than I could take it down. I was hitting it with my nym's carbine for 1236 points of damage every time, but it's health would bounce back up after I hit it.I had it down to 75% when it incapped me, and by the time I stood back up it's health was back up to 90%. My armor didn't seem to be blocking anything.

I suppose I could have been more careful and I really don't know how to use BH specials, but the point of my little test was to go somewhere and try to do something that I currently do on live (In live now I can take out one of these things with master rifles unarmored, unbuffed (but with brandy, etc...) in seconds, esp. if it stays ranged), and I came out of it bruised, battered, and feeling very underpowered. Even if I had managed to take it down, the fight still took a good 4-5 minutes. That's too long if you're hunting for resources -- 5 minutes to get 100-200 units of scaly hide. Ouch.

I think that the content higher than CL 15 is still being balanced. A lot of people have been affected by the health regeneration of enemies in that higher CL range, and it has been bug reported I hope. We are instructed to test things from CL 1-15, and I am assuming it is because the higher stuff is still broken.

I have also seen reports (non-SOE employee mind you) that armor does not work on Test Centers right now. I don't know if it's a full blown armor hole or what, but it will be fixed I hope. Maybe your armor wasn't resistance to the type of damage the creature was attacking you with. That is also another possibility.

I would bug report it myself, but I doubt they are unaware of this.

If I were you, I would fight against something relatively easy, begin the fight with armor to see how much damage it was inflicting upon you then, and take your armor off (all of it) and observe the differences. If there is a noticeable difference, then that rules out the armor hole theory.

thanks - Iunderstand that they are still balancing things and my thought was that the snake was hitting me with a type of damage my armor wasn't protecting against.I also think that I'm going have to re-learn a lot of stuff when the CU goes live, which won't necessarily be a bad thing. I'm just going to miss my long, solitary hunts across yavin and endor...

First if you have not played on the TC servers with the current new CU in it's fullest state then you still will not be able to truly compare the two at this point, but it will give you feeling for how it will begin to affect you. I say this because I am not sure on these copied live servers that they have balanced all the npcs and creatures on them to reflect how they will be when the CU goes live. There is a considerable diffrerence between the live creatures and npcs and those found on the TC servers that have the full rebalance in play.

Let me give you an example, on the rebalanced Rogue Begeraset, which in live before the CU is a challenge level 13, on Corellia in the TC servers it is 81, which means most likely you will be incappsed and if not careful be killed trying to take out a Rogue Begeraset's lair. That is quit a difference. So unless you have this on your copied server your comparison will not be nearly as valid. Check this out to see how they compare. If it isn't that way on your copied server then you should make a quick character as close as possible to what your live character is on true TC server and then compare them.

Just my thoughts on your very good idea.
